We were visiting New Orleans in September 2006 and bought tickets for the Shirley Q Liquor show. We're big fans of Mrs. Liquor, but the stage area in Bourbon Pub is too small. Everyone had to stand (no chairs) and it was sweaty-hot (no air conditioning). The show was sold out and it was very crowded. I don't think the short people in the room could see anything. Mrs. Liquor's show was very funny, but too short. The rest of the pub is small, and the party in the street is more fun anyway.

I come to NO at least twice a year and after being told by the "Marys" at the concierge desk of my hotel to go to Oz (which is across the street) I practically ran over to this place! Nice, friendly down to earth clientele and staff. Mixed crowd, not the snotty pretty boys of Oz....music is better and prices are cheaper!
Pros: good music, nice staff, mixed crowd
Cons: none, none, none

I have been to New Orleans a few times and have always enjoyed going to the Pub and Parade. The Pub is a great place to sit and chat while watching music videos and later on in the evening, when it's time to dance, head on upstairs to Parade. Parade captures you with the music and my favorite, the green laser lights. If you want a great place to dance, skip Oz and go to the Bourbon Pub and Parade.

Simply the best overall gay club in New Orleans. Video club with plasma monitors and great sound downstairs; Incredible dance club upstairs...some of the best sound I have heard (and I've lived in both New York and Los Angeles). The dance floor lighting is superb...not overdone like many dance clubs. Well thought-out installation. Bartenders are the most friendly of any club. Security is present, but not overbearing.
Pros: Great Sound, Very Crowded, Great Music Videos

At the Bourbon Pub I felt comfortable sense I am just coming out. Other places I have felt uneasy.

The Bourbon Pub at 801 Bourbon Street has proved itself to be THE hottest gay pub in the South! With that southern charm, French Quarter atmosphere, open arms for gays and straights, and some of the BEST BARTENDERS wrapped up into one pub, how could you go wrong? Great music and great personalities line the downstairs awesome video bar. Upstairs in the Parade Disco, you can dance till you drop with the "high octane" music spun by some of the greatest DJ's in New Orleans. To NOT visit the Bourbon Pub while in New Orleans would be a mortal sin. A MUST SEE, when visiting the Big Easy. Cheers! And hats off to The Bourbon Pub & Parade Disco!
Pros: Crowded, Central Locality, Video Bar & Disco
Cons: Sometimes too crowded, Pricey Drinks, Pick Pockets
