Yale has so much to offer for everyone. The campus is beautiful, and on a warm spring day you can't help but fall in love with the place. New Haven itself gets a bad rap, but as far as small cities go, it has a great selection of restaurants, bars and cultural activities. It's common sense not to walk on scary dark streets late at night, so as long as you follow that advice, you should do just fine in New Haven.
With the residential college system for the undergraduates, students get the best of both worlds - a great research institution, and the personal attention of a small college.
For God for country and for Yale!

We dined at Cosi in New Haven last night and had the Smores. My kids loved roasting the marshmallows! What a fun idea! The crowd was mixed, college students to 30-somethings and there seemed to be something for everyone. Service and food was great.

Consiglios of New Haven is an excellent Italian restaurant in the 'Little Italy' section of New Haven. The Consiglios are a family of legendary chefs. The dishes are inventive and expertly prepared. The atmosphere is clean and casual. The staff is highly professional. The prices sre good considering the quality of the ingredients and love that go into each and every dish.

If you need a fancy dress for a special occasion -- this is the place to go. It's a small shop with a nice selection of dresses for it's size. The dresses are upscale and so are the prices. I've window shopped in here many times and have seen tons of dresses that l love -- but they are all out of my price range. They do occasionally have sales. The staff is hit or miss -- sometimes they are helpful, sometimes not. If you want something a step above the department stores -- this is the place to go for that special dress.

After tonight's travesty of a meal, the only thing I can really say Scoozzi has going for it is its hip, urban atmosphere. It's very pleasant to sit in there. I only wish it were pleasant to order, to eat, or to examine the hard water stains on the glasses too closely. The food itself, I'm afraid, was entirely disappointing, and considering the prices, it's an absolute travesty.
The poor service was an appropriate match to the food. We sent the dirtiest wineglass back only to receive an equally dirty one. A moment later, the wrong salad was delivered, and it took almost ten minutes to flag the waiter down to get the right one.
As we finished the salads ($9-$12), the waiter inexplicably asked us if we would like some bread, perhaps because he noticed the empty bread plates still on the table. It's good we demurred, since our entrées arrived about thirty seconds later, apparently having waited under the warming lamp for us to finished our long-delayed salads.
The Funghi e Tartuffi (mushroom risotto, $21) was bland and sticky, with no richness, complexity, or texture. I couldn't finish it. The warming lamp appears to have particularly cruel to its sauce. The Pescatore in Acqua Pazza (seafood over linguini, $25) had only decent flavor, and the shrimp were tough and the tilapia chewy.
My tiramisu ($7) had clearly sat for quite some time. It had almost a cafeteria flair. The crème brûlée ($6) was a little better, but hardly inspiring.
I last ate at Scoozzi several years ago. I'm not sure if my standards have risen or if theirs have slipped, but it'll be years before I try it again.

It's a quirky little hole in the wall that serves mexican food on occasion, but is primarily a bar specializing in tequila and its applications. (Recalling your high school spanish, read the name again...it's funny, you see!)
The drink menu is a book full of incredible margaritas to be drunk straight or frozen, or there's tequila samplers to educate your palate, or you can just grab a beer.
Best bet - grab a half price margarita during happy hour (from 5-7) and a bean burrito from their free happy hour buffet. Bring friends.
Be careful though - my friends and I used to refer to this place as "the bar of truth" because the margaritas are quite strong, and tend to loosen lips quickly.

9 months ago I got my third pet from the shelter. The first two are now 11 and 12 years old. Sam, the last one is about 1 1/2 years old.
I took Sam out thursday afternoon about 1:00 pm, and kind of stumbled down the back stairs. I lost the hold on the leash and he went walking down the driveway to the street.
Well, he had never been loose before and i was worried. He didnt know about card, kidnappers, and the like. I drove around the neighborhood for about 2 hours looking. He loves to go for rides and if I saw him and opened thje rear door on the station wagon he would come running and jump into the back.
About 5:00 that afternoon I called the shelter and left a voice mail. The next morning I calledf again and spoke to Barbara. She said there was a voice mail about a dog hung up on a leash behind the carrage house at 67 south water street. Thats about 2 blocks from me.
So I went there, looked, called sam by name, but had no luck. So I came back home.
Later that day, two NHPD officers came to the door, and i looked out and there was sam being held by one of the officers on his leash. They had an almost empty box of dog treats that I assume sam had been helping himself to.
Well I took the leash and said thanks to the officers but i thought i would write this thank you to the shelter and the officers.
I guess they have better luck finding subjects that I do because they found him where I had looked that morning.
Again, thank you to new havens finest, because sam may be the best one yet.

This bookstore in downtown New Haven makes its business by serving the Yale community. It is one of the favorite spots among professors from the University to copy and distribute course materials, as well as to order required books. The bookstore provides this service very well, and the course packets are always ready on time. However, it does not go far beyond that and most of the books that can be found in there are books that have been, or are likely to be, used for different classes at the University. The decor is equally utilitarian and offers little to soothe the senses.

Because I owned Toyota Corolla, I thought it would be better to choose an authorized repair center. Toyota A-1 is rather distant from my place and a little pricey, but I went to them. However their serive was terrible. When i went to pick up my car which had been in the garage for repair, I found many scratches I had never seen before. I complained about it, but they kept saying it's not their fault. They're also very rude. I'll never visit that dealer again.
