Bryn Mawr is a small bookshop tucked away on a side "alley" on New Haven's north-side, off of Whitney ave. Aside from odd operating hours, the place is usually open, with noone inside except for the proprietor and her dog. If you are a book fiend, you might be able to find a good, old book in here, as most of their collection is used, and thus rather old. Don't expect low prices because of it though!

Is this a new location? Anyway, went here yesterday to watch some football. They are a little pricey and service can be a little slow for my taste, but the wings were no joke and sauces (at least the ones I tried) are even better! Try the hottest sauce they have?it will melt your face and burn your throat?but this makes drinking their extensive list of beers not only fun, but necessary. I also tried a few of my boys mini-corn-dogs (wow, that didn?t come out right), but they are even better than the wings. All in all a great place to go with your homies, leave the skirt at home!
Pros: Wings & Beer

This is a great SMALL space to see awesome bands. Although I will agree with the other poster about Cafe Nine that the ginormous post in front of the stage has to go, this is a great place to see lots of genres. They have blues jams, rockabilly, punk, etc, usually a low admission price, and cheap drinks. Cafe Nine usually fills up late, so if you get there before 10 you can grab a table. It is a really small space though, so if you don't like being crowded this aint the place for you.

The look of a club, without actually being a club. A mix of people of all ages, ranging from kids getting gelato, people in their 20's getting a drink, baby boomers getting lunch. Some food offerings:
Bottega makes its own gelato. Also there are salads, stir fry and pizzettes, lobster ravioli and chicken with artichokes.
An unusual twise on "ladies night" - Monday nights the café offers "Manicure or Massage, Martini and a Movie." For $20, you a martini with either a manicure or a massage while watching a movie on a huge screen at the front of the café. Tuesday night is karaoke, and Wednesday is reggae. Thursday is Texas Hold 'em night. Bands play on Friday and Saturday nights.

My favorite restaurant in New Haven. Typical, traditional New York-Italian preparations. This is exactly the kind of restaurant everyone wants in their neighborhood. While I've had service problems here in the past, they've improved in that department steadily over the years after transitioning from a bread bakery and pizza restaurant to sit-down entrees. I've never ordered a dish here that wasn't prepared exactly as it should be, and I am often surprised by Chef Gianni's slightly offbeat interpretations of dishes that are on many menus in this town. When I have out-of-town guests I bring them here, because I know I won't be embarrassed. I love the food. Bravo, indeed.
Pros: No reservations, great food
Cons: Parking can be difficult, closes very early (be there by 8pm)
