This is a lovely little restaurant. While the prices can get alittle steep for your average bear, the lunch time menu can be quite reasonable with some lovely combinations of dishes and delicious sandwiches. I think the UNION LEAGUE CLUB for 7.00 - Grilled chicken club with smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, ginger, black pepper mayonnaise, served with housemade vegetable chips is a great deal for lunch in New Haven. The wine menu is amazing, and the decor is quite lovely, as The Union League Cafe occupies the historic Sherman Building.
I would recommend it for a business lunch or romantic dinner. The Bar is opened for cocktails from 11:30 a.m. until closing, with the Bistro Menu offered from 5:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

New Haven is known for several things; Pizza, Yale University, and Louis' Lunch.
Louie's (that's how it's pronounced) is supposidly the originator of the hamburger. They also will not (don't even ask) serve a burger with any ketchup. Bring your own packets if you must have ketchup because you won't see it in the restaurant.
What about ketchip for the fries? They don't sell fries here, only potato chips, so you're out of luck. The burgers come with all the standard toppings except for ketchup -- but you won't need it. The burgers come with spices cooked in, and it's a flavor you'll remember for years to come.
Louie has regular hours, but sometimes will open a little earlier or stay open later depending on the time of year.
If you want something to write home about, stop in here. It's inexpensive, and you'll be dining in some real New Haven history!

I normally don't write reviews but it seems as of now there are six 1 stars and three 5 stars suggesting that people either love or hate this place. After a weekend of sampling food from Little Italy in NYC and Wooster Square I can tell you that Tony & Lucille's is one of the best (if not the best). If you are looking for a traditional Italian family owned restaurant with excellent food and great atmoshphere, look no further.
Pros: Traditional Italian food in a true Italian atmosphere
Cons: Parking in New Haven (is that ever easy?)

I have been here twice, both times were superb, but the first time was the best dining experience I've ever had. I can't even recall what we had (it was three years ago), but I can tell you that everything was seasoned to perfection from the amuse to the dessert. Service was 10/10. Having lived in NYC for 8 years, Ive been to lots of great restaurants and this one ranks right at the top. If I'm ever in the NYC area again, I would make a trip to New Haven for this place. It's that good.
Pros: great food
Cons: cant recall

First, I knew this was going to be pricey before I even stepped in the door. Roomba is a very small place in the Chapel area of town, and is located in the basement (thus its smallness). The food was wonderful, as well as tastefully decorated. IT is extremely expensive for New Haven, however, and the portions aren't plentiful at all; pretty much what you'd expect from an upscale eatery such as this.

I've only been to Hot Tomato's for martinis and dessert, but served as a great place for just that. Inside, the buliding is very nice - open, with plentiful seating. The martini list is quite extensive - my personal pick is the lemon drop martini. The desserts are very nice but on the pricey side. You may want to call ahead if you are coming with a large group. The servers I had were incredible at keeping orders straight even within a large group. While it's not something I'd do every week, it's a welcome change of pace and a great treat when you have an out-of-town guest or big date.

I was not truly prepared for the selection on the menu. I have eaten sushi many times in many places, this was different. My taste buds enjoyed an explosion of flavors and combinations I would never have thought of under the guise of sushi. Though not any inexpensive meal, one well worth enjoying and taking others to. My one criticism is the available drink menu. The availability of some less exotic saki and or beer would have been desireable. Our waitress knew the entire menu by heart and was very helpful. An asside comment, though tall, she kneeled down to our level while explaining the menu and looked us in the eye.
Pros: The FOOD
Cons: high priced, drink selection

The Wave Gallery is one of my favorite gift shops in all of the many cities I've ever lived in. They have a wonderful selection -- you can find something appropriate for pretty much anyone. They have cards, candles, jewelry, knick-knacks, art and tons of "cutsie items." Prices are reasonable -- depending on what you buy. They do have a nice selection of items in many price ranges. Their merchandise is unique and fun -- not what you would find in a traditional chain card or gift shop. I love to shop here -- and I see something new each time! Highly recommend.
