Great Wall of China (on Whitney) has great fish; I even make sushi out of it. They have deliveries M, Th, F around 2 pm. The only problem is that a lot of the fish is labeled only in Chinese, but if you know what fish look like, you'll be fine. They don't filet.

If you like Ethiopean food, Lalibela is an easy sell. If you've never tried it, you owe it to yourself to make Lalibela your first experience with Ethiopean food.
Full of spices (but not too hot), Lalibela's lunch buffet is a perfect introduction to the cuisine. You'll get to try the lentils and other legumes, the collard greens, the carrots and green beans, a few meat dishes (if that's your thing), and their cold offerings - a beet salad and a tomato and pepper salad.
The service is not the best, but the food is tasty and satisfying, and no one will ever pressure you to leave before you're ready. A great place for a lingering dinner, or lunch with a friend you haven't seen in a while - or anytime you're craving a good meal.

A great prix fixe menu featuring both standard continental choices and more adventurous favorites from the owner's catering business. Funky atmosphere that's set apart by the fact that the waitstaff (also from the catering business) love their jobs - making them friendly and chatty in an inviting way. Don't hesitate to ask them for advice when ordering.
Prices are incredibly reasonable for what you get, and it's BYOB for a very small corking fee, making this a perfect place to celebrate any occasion or impress a girl/boy.
Make reservations.

More
NMS is a local music school, catering to all ages and abilities for a variety of instruments, vocal styles, and dance forms. Starting with music-focused playgroups for toddlers, then branching out to individual and/or group lessons for children, teenagers and adults, and offering some supervised ensembles for advanced students, NMS is a "one stop shopping" for your music education needs.
They're not your cheapest bet in the New Haven area, but they're probably your best. Their teachers are selected not just for their own musical accomplishments, but also for their abilities as educators. Your experiences will be professional and pleasant with NMS teachers.
You can take classes in New Haven, or at branches in Guilford or Woodbridge.
You're never too late to learn to play/sing/dance! (or, if you're already a musician, it's never too late to get better!)

Gourmet Heaven started on Broadway as a 24-hour international-type grocer. They carry much more than simple groceries; their selection of candy is enormous (for a store this size), and you'll find things from all over the world, especially asia. They are perhaps more famous for their hot/cold buffet bar which is filled with all sorts of foods daily. They also serve up a ton of different kinds of sandwiches, carefully prepared. The one downside is, however, that anything you buy here will be extremely expensive for what it is - $6 to $8 per pound for hot food is way too expensive.

More
Zaroka is one of very few Indian restaurants in New Haven. They have a lunch buffet, which is OK price-wise, but very good in terms of quality. You'll often find it packed for lunch as it is in close proximity to the medical area of the city, so if you're going for lunch, go early! If you'd rather wait for dinner, anytime is fine as they accept reservations. The inside is very well decorated. The food is quite good and plentiful, but prices kind of high.

Once I had this crazy rash on my face that was getting near my eye and then on my throat. I had no history of fast spreading rashes and didn't know what to do. This office got me an appointment the next day, and I thought he would give me a steriod topical cream or something, but explained an old remedy that would work just as well without having to take steriods to get rid of the rash. I left the office thinking that it would never work, but applied the compress soaked in the solution recipe he gave me, and the rash improved after the first application, and was gone before the 24 hours he said it would take. I appreciate a doctor who does not have his patients take drugs with side affects for no good reason, and it took care of my problem immediately. My friend also sees him for cystic acne that is very painful, and says he is the only doctor who has been able to keep it under control.

More
According to common belief, Pepe's is believed to be the first real "pizza place" in the world; granted pizza has been around for alot longer than a few decades, but Pepe's is attributed with being the first to lay down tomato sauce (rather than just sliced tomatoes) and plenty of shredded mozzarella. It's worth a try if you're in town, but it's not within walking distance of city center. Given its reputation, one would think that it's more of an upscale place; quite the contrary! It's very "diner-like" in its inner appearance. Ordering is similar, and the pizzas come on large cookie trays. The pizza is quite greasy, so be prepared. Prices are high for what you get, and be prepared to wait in line, especially on the weekends!
