Sure, there's now a Cold Stone Creamery in New Haven where you can get whatever you want mixed into your ice cream. Who cares? Ashley's has flavors you'd never dream up on your own, but are orgasmicly good and exactly what you wanted before you knew you needed them. Seriously. Best ice cream ever.
My favorites - the sweet cream (no extraneous flavors to get in the way of absolutely pure ice cream...makes vanilla taste lurid) or coffee oreo (dark yet creamy, incredibly complex and textured)
And, the drawings (some by children, others by the childish) will keep you entertained as you eat, if you don't grab your cone and walk around in the summer evening.

There is not better artistic cuisine in the entire state than Miya's. The menu, which reads like a novel, is both entertaining and challenging, incorporating ingredients that you would never think go well together but does. You just have to go there.

Edge of the Woods has been New Haven's response to healthy food. Primarily catering to those that prefer natural food, they aren't necessarily a solely vegan place.
They have a bakery on premises and have tons of freshly baked goods. They also feature vegetarian lasagna as well as other vegetarian foods for those looking for that.
The full market also hosts many local brands of natural foods such as peanut butter, jellies and locally grown vegetables. Although they are higher priced than those you can find in the supermarket, they are catering to a specialized crowd and market.
Their hours are reasonable, and their selection is great.

The Peabody Museum is a great place to take the kids. We go at least once a year. The Milford Public Library has a free pass you can borrow for a few days. The Peabody has a wonderful dinousaur room that the kids absolutely love. We went one time and they were having a scavenger hunt in the dinosaur room where you had to search for dinasour facts, and the kids got a prize at the end. This museun is just the right size too, not to large yet not to small.

This is THE place to go for italian ices. They have like 50 different flavors. My favorite is honeydew ices. Priced fairly, this well known bakery always has a long line, not just for the amazing italian ices, but for the amazing italian pastries as well. They have about 10 different varieties of cannolis and they all look wonderful. This is the place to go on a hot summer night.

What to do when living in Hartford on a snowy Saturday.
1) Get in the car
2) Drive to BruRm @ BAR in New Haven
3) Consume many great beers brewed on the premises
4) Eat lots of excellent pizza (sorry Pepe's... you may have met your match - these pies can't be beat!)
5) Decide to get another couple of pizzas for tomorrow
6) Kill some time until you're legal to drive back to Hartford
Yep, that was our regular routine for three years. I still miss those pizzas and their outstanding beer.

Ibiza has been around for a few years and was formerly known as Tapas; they specialize in mediterranean/spanish (iberian peninsula) cuisine. So, you'll find alot of seafood here, prepared upscale-style with prices to match. Like all New Haven restaurants, it is rather small and thus kind of loud, especially if you have a larger party. Overall, I'd go back if someone else paid!

Although it took me 40 minutes to find a parking place, I finally did one Thursday evening...but had only
15-20 minutes to try on and find the "perfect" dress. The staff was sympathetic to my adventure to find parking and, in what time that was left before closing, I not only tried on 5-8 dresses but found the PERFECT one for an upcoming wedding.
The dress needed to be altered and, again, I was treated like royalty...
OH yes, Seychelles is the place to go for a dress that is unique!

More
I dream about their berry bread pudding. I prefer it chilled (not nuked) with berry sauce on the side. The black bean soup is filling and flavorful. Atticus panini is FABULOUS a thick slice of Vermont ham. The bread basket is fun with various types of artisan bread from Chiabata and assortment of jam and jelly. Croissant is delish. Coffee may be super good or not as good (but always better than marginal). The place has wireless connection. I'll take Atticus over going to the big bad national coffee shop chain across the street any day!
Pros: dessert selection
Cons: unpredictable quality of coffee
