i have been ordering pizzas from pepe's on wooster st. for years and they are the best pizza i have ever had.
they get very crowded on friday nights & weekends because people come from all around to visit wooster st. so if you are planning a trip, you might want to come down during the week or plan on staying a while.
however any wait time is worth it!
the pizza is really delicious. i am convinced that nobody gets better pizza than we do in ct.

Went there on a Sunday afternoon in the fall and the place was packed, we were lucky to get a parking place on the street. Over a hour and a half wait so we went next door to "The Spot". The same pizza we were told just not the ambiance of the original restaurant. Pizza was very tasty and large. A oval shaped pie that was cut into irregular shaped slices. The crust was very thin and very crispy, alittle burnt on the edges. The sauce was more a plain tomato sauce than a pizza sauce, not spicy enough for my taste. The cheese was ample but the topping were weak in supply. I've had pizza all over the country and this was good, just not the best which I've had in Philadelphia.
Pros: Food, Liquor License
Cons: Parking, Waiting too long for a table

My hair is naturally fine, dry, and can't seem to decide whether it is wavy or straight - not exactly easy to work with. At every other salon I've been to, I ask for a cut that will work with the natural (unstyled) texture of my hair, but I always seem to end up with something that looks great blown out and crummy every other day. Karma was the first salon I have ever been to where the stylist (I had Cassie) was actually successful in giving me a cut that makes my hair seem fuller, softer, and smoother every day, regardless of how much (or little) I style it. Even two months later, the cut still looks great. And because Karma doesn't sell hair products, the product recommendations Cassie gave me weren't the $30 bottles of shampoo at the front of the store but simple, affordable products that work great for my hair. For as long as I'm in New Haven, I will definitely be sticking with Cassie at Karma.

I have traveled the state and whenever I see an Italian bakery I stop and try a cannoli. From Greenwich to Hartford and everything in between, nothing beats Lucibello's. Their cakes are outstanding. Four generations of my family have been getting desserts there for over 50 years.

I heard so many good things about Soho but never went until last week. My haircut is so incredible I am stopped at least twice a day by someone asking me where I got my haircut. When I go back for my next cut, I'm taking some cards to hand out to people so I'll be prepared. I LOVE MY HAIR!!
Pros: Great ambience, good music and wine and cheese on Thursday night.
Cons: None

After growing up in Woodbridge and going to Sally's almost every weekend as a young boy, I have traveled back from Texas many times to the Northeast and each time I have made my way to Sally's. I can taste the quality before I ever get there and standing outside at 430 until they are ready to let us in is half the fun. I can't get enough of the thin crust, lovely, pizza that comes from their ovens...Yes the service can be difficult, but that has been the same for over 60 years... and its worth the time spent there.I actually showed up during the week they take off on vacation and had to go down the street to Frank Pepe's and it just wasn't the same....New Haven has it all over everyone else when it comes to pizza that is to die over...

More
Nestled right on the most heavily frequented strip of Chapel Street is New Haven's gem of a bookstore, which also happens to run one of the best bakeries around. Naturally geared towards the student crowd, the bookstore carries more than the usual blockbuster. The selection is eclectic and sometimes surprising, and it is almost as much fun to browse the aisles for books as it is to take one out, order a scone or a muffin, sit down and read through it. Since Atticus is located right in the middle between two world-class museums, it is not surprising that the selection of books on art and photography is especially strong.
More friendly and cozy than the big chain bookstore nearby, Atticus is a delightful place to stop in, spend an hour or quietly sip coffee while reading a book.

Everyone knows that New Haven is known for it's famous Wooster Street pizza. Moden is definitely not on Wooster Street (although close) but is known for their pizza.
If you visit New Haven and don't go to Modern, you are missing out on one of New Haven's oldest traditions. Having gone through many renovations, Modern is now a medium-sized restaurant, slightly larger than Sally's or the original Pepe's Pizza restaurants on Wooster St.
Bosting a thin crispy crust, you'll get fresh ingredients and a great pizza. Don't bother to call in to check specials -- there are none. No discounts, no frills, etc.
The pizza is unbeatable, and the lines are somewhat smaller than Pepe's or Sally's. In my opinion, the pizza is better.
They feature Foxon Park soda (Birch Beer, Root Beer, Ginger Ale) and have cold draught beer as well.

Cutlers is a nice alternative to the music superstores. For their size, they have a great selection of CDs. It's not all pop and top 20 -- they have a good array of alternative as well. The store and the staff are very laid back -- but knowlegable if you ask them. It's centrally located in New Haven -- very near Yale University -- so there are always college kids in there. They've been around forever -- so locals shop there too. Prices are competative and fair.

Modern Apizza is hands down the best pizza I've ever had. That includes all the pizzarias in New Haven and New York City (Sally's, Lombardi's..ect). Everything about it is perfection. Hot damn. Im getting hungry just thinking about it.
Pros: THE BEST PIZZA MONEY CAN BUY
Cons: its far, far away from my home
