Yale has so much to offer for everyone. The campus is beautiful, and on a warm spring day you can't help but fall in love with the place. New Haven itself gets a bad rap, but as far as small cities go, it has a great selection of restaurants, bars and cultural activities. It's common sense not to walk on scary dark streets late at night, so as long as you follow that advice, you should do just fine in New Haven. With the residential college system for the undergraduates, students get the best of both worlds - a great research institution, and the personal attention of a small college. For God for country and for Yale!

The Yale ObGyn department is generally good for basic gynecologic care (I can't speak to the OB in OBGyne). One thing that you can rely upon is sympathetic care in an emergency - all the folks I've ever seen have cared deeply for their patients, which is an impressive thing to say. High marks for meeting the emotional needs of the average patient. That said, sometimes the fact that these folks see a lot of college students clouds their judgement. I was forced to switch care providers when I had a serious problem that was NOT "stress related," as I was repeatedly told by one nurse-midwife. Of the folks I know: Deborah Meredith - excellent. Betsy Cole - good for a routine pelvic exam, but quick to dismiss any concerns you bring up Ann Ross (no relation) - excellent, and well versed with the University's other health resources for women

New Haven has plenty of theater offerings, but the Yale Cabaret is special. With a new show every weekend during the school year, and several shows over the summer, Yale Cabaret is an energetic and exuberant theater scene. Shows range from experimental premieres to downscaled musicals to shorter classics - a mixed bag. The productions are either mindblowingly awesome or truly awful - no middle ground - but it's a cheap enough price of admission that it's worth chancing it on any given show. Dinner and/or dessert plus drinks are served before the show - it's a wonderful opportunity for a night out. You're guaranteed to have something to talk about when the show's over.
