Everyone working there looks like they come from the same in-bred red neck family, they are dirty, rude and unplesant to deal with altogether.
After 45 minutes with no pizza, i asked the waiter if he could check on it for us, and his answwer was, "I don't make the pizza's, I just take the orders!" then he walked away!
the bathroom was so filthy I almost lost my appetite. The pizza was very good, but not as good as Frank Pepe's by any means. and with the ruder than rude lack of service, is any food worth the trouble?? I dont think so, Sally's Stinks!
Pros: good pizza
Cons: everything else possible

In our search for the perfect piece of pizza and after already experiencing Pepe's we wanted to try the rival Sally's. After a 1.5 hour wait in line we were escorted to our booth that was last upgraded in 1950. After another 30 minute wait for a waiter we ordered. No wine and only bud or miller in a bottle to choose from. We then proceeded to wait another 1.5 hours for our pizza. The wait times were so outrageous and the staff so indifferent that the whole experience left me very angry and at a loss for how they continue to get away with it. The pizza is good but on par with Pepe's. I would suggest you SKIP SALLY's all together and head to Pepe's for a wonderful experience.
Don't even get me started about the bathrooms. I wonder when the last time the health inspector visited this establishment. I will NEVER return!!!
Pros: pizza was good
Cons: service, cleanliness

Had gone to Pepe's and wanted to give Sally's a try. Waited 2 hours outside in the rain with one 3 parties of 2 and 3 ahead of us while their preferred customers strolled in under the guise of having a reservation. Once seated waited half an hour for our drinks and then more than an hour for our food. The staff know that their pizza is superior and have such an attitude of indifference, it is incredible. It is madening how bad they treat people. I don't care how good their pizza is, I will NEVER be back. I will give my business to Pepe's who knows how to treat a customer.
Pros: None
Cons: Service, filthy location, bad service, long long waits, preferencial treatment to some.

Waited 1 hr in line while people who called the unlisted # walked right in. Then to make matters worse on a night that was 10 degrees, they opened the doors at 5:15 while everyone froze then they kept several tables open while people froze and then did not clean the dirty ones before they sat new guest. Served 2.5 hours latter, burnt, and simply gross. To top it off we were served sour milk for our 14 month old child then when we went to pay they had the nerve to charge us for it (BTW they admitted that it was sour when I blew my top in the filthy kitchen). I would never go again! Pepes Rules, Sally's should be closed by the hdepartment and yes, I am calling them Monday!

"Speaking as a New Haven native I will tell you that this restaurant is a horrible, horrible place. There was a time 30 or 40 years ago when it was a quaint, friendly place. The service is as bad as you imagine, it's expensive and while you are waiting in line "friends" of the place will walk right in. New Haven has many other great pizza places that will leave you completely satisfied! Sally'd is completely irrelevant.

After growing up in Woodbridge and going to Sally's almost every weekend as a young boy, I have traveled back from Texas many times to the Northeast and each time I have made my way to Sally's. I can taste the quality before I ever get there and standing outside at 430 until they are ready to let us in is half the fun. I can't get enough of the thin crust, lovely, pizza that comes from their ovens...Yes the service can be difficult, but that has been the same for over 60 years... and its worth the time spent there.I actually showed up during the week they take off on vacation and had to go down the street to Frank Pepe's and it just wasn't the same....New Haven has it all over everyone else when it comes to pizza that is to die over...

I was in there last night and the waitress at the counter was HORRIBLY NASTY. If she is not the owner, she should be fired. She looked like an old witch, and told me to go to Pepe's when I asked her why people were getting seated before us when my family had been waiting for 2 hours outside. A simple apology to me for the wait was not offered, and instead she said that maybe I should just go to Pepe's.
That is exactly what my family did. It is not worth it-- just go to Pepe's where everyone has the same wait time!
Horrible customer service. We will never ever go there again, and will will tell this story to ALL of our friends.
Pros: Pizza equivalent to Pepe's
Cons: Rude service

My wife & I had been talking about trying this place for years since we had heard it was better than the other places on Wooster St.
We had heard and read all the stories about bad service, slow lines, etc but yet the pizza was worth it. However, this was an excusion to hell and back again. The wait in the line wasn't bad, it was the wait AFTER we gave the waiter our order. It took a 5 mins to take a drink order, but 15 mins to come back with a menu. Once we gave him an order it took 75 minutes to get a pizza. While people who came in AFTER us got served and we asked the waiter to chckk for us he never went back. Finally after skipped him and went to counter our pizza arrived 15 mins later (the got the order wrong). We commented about time and they THREW pizza on the table and snidely said we were only waiting 15 mins. We decided not to take this anymore and asked for the check and a box to take it to go. When the lady who threw the pizza at us write out the check she refused to give to me because she said WE were rude to her and handed the check to her daughter. Now having been pushed beyond any limit a customer should take from a business I remarked she didn't know what she was talking about, her daughter actually struck me by slapping my money out of my hand.
During this process I heard another patron remark Oh my god they are going to irritate them!!! As if it is acceptable to take this type of abuse from from a waiter/waitress/business owner. Thus the title of my post as this experience should remind anyone this of the Seinfield episode revolving around the 'Soup Nazi'.
Lastly, the pizza was greasy while the crust was burnt. Defintely not worth the experience on any level.
