I normally don't write reviews but it seems as of now there are six 1 stars and three 5 stars suggesting that people either love or hate this place. After a weekend of sampling food from Little Italy in NYC and Wooster Square I can tell you that Tony & Lucille's is one of the best (if not the best). If you are looking for a traditional Italian family owned restaurant with excellent food and great atmoshphere, look no further.
Pros: Traditional Italian food in a true Italian atmosphere
Cons: Parking in New Haven (is that ever easy?)

I can top any negative review with this one. Went there as a walk in because Peppi's line was out the door as usual on a rainy night. Celebrating a birthday and brought our own THREE slices of our own neighborhood bakery's cake. The food was very good. Almost as good as Roseland in Derby. Hint, hint. The waitress who has to be one of the owner's daughters immediately told us that we 'Could not open that here'. She then lied to us and told us that is a state law that prevented us from opening the cake in their restaurant. We have since confirmed that is totally not true. The rest of the service was mediocre which wasn't that much of a surprise. The food was good but very overpriced. It appeared to be just another case of an established family restaurant in a can't fail neighborhood that has gotten lazy and overconfident. I should have stiffed the waitress for being so dishonest to us but I didn't. Will never go back. I'll stand in line in the rain at Peppi's anyday rather than give this place another dollar. I'm giving one star because I can't give a half a star!
Pros: Food on 7/21/2009 Very Good
Cons: Waitress Was Obnoxious, Rude and Lied to Us

A while ago we were looking for a quick sub and a reprieve from some stress. We saw the sign that advertised subs and pizza by the slice on the small restaurant adjoining the main full service Tony & Lucille's. It was an off hour and both restaurants were empty and Tony and his daughters were friendly and engaged us in conversation. We felt like members of the family and the food was so tasty.
Pros: Fresh tasty subs, reasonable price
Cons: None

We have been going as a group of 8-12 people to T&L?s several times a year for several years to celebrate special occasions, such as anniversaries. We usually are seated at the corner round table, as we were on a recent past Friday, October 26th. All eight us had been there many times before and had grown accustomed to the fine cuisine, but that day, each and every one of us was greatly disappointed. The appetizers and salads were almost up to par, but the entrees were extremely disappointing. The portions were skimpy and those of us who had sauce found it to be greatly over-salted. To top it off, the coffee maker was ?out-of-order?, which in turn spoiled the desert for us. It left us all wondering, what happened? Did they change chefs? It?s the first time that I personally have left there hungry and the last . . . we won?t be back!
Cons: Food disappointed

Look:
These people giving T&L's bad review's are people who don't really know food. They are just a bunch of spoiled babies who are used to paying top dollar at sub-par restaurants, getting tremendous service, but being served inferior food, prepared by amatuers. Folks...if that's what you want - then go to the Olive Garden, or this new joke of a place called Panera's. Do not dine on Wooster street if you are looking for a waiter or waitress to kiss your butts. Quite frankly: they don't have to! This is a street full of people who are the Pavarotti's and DaVinci's of the food world. You are lucky to get a seat in their establishments! Boo hoo, you had to wait 90 minutes to get a seat....BE HAPPY THEY SEATED YOUR IGNORANT SELF!
I have been eating on Wooster Street since I was a kid. Growing up, I thought food of that quality was the norm. Later as I found that was not true, I began to appreciate more and more the care and love and KNOWLEDGE required to make food of that caliber. Have I been treated rudely from time to time? Yes. Did I deserve it? Probably. But that's hardly the point. Grow up, develop a skin, and be glad are lucky enough to be in an eatery of such excellence, otherwise ; go to Pasta Fair, or Bertucci's...or any one of the junk places you can name. You won't know the difference anyway.
Pros: The food is high quality , well prepared italian cuisine.
Cons: Parking may be a problem, but when is it not?

Extremely overpriced, very rude waitresses. My daughter and I waited one-and-a-half hours for our meal to arrive. Tables next to us, larger groups, who had arrived a good ten to fifteen minutes after us received their food before us. When our food finally arrived, the waitress stated that our order took so long because one of us had lobster ravioli. When my daughter pointed out that the table next to us, who had received their meal about fifteen minutes before us, had lobster ravioli, the waitress rudely lied to us and said it was not lobster ravioli when in fact it was. I have never not left a tip in my entire life until this experience. Do not go here unless you want to be treated rudely. The food is definitely not worth the price, the wait, or the treatment you will receive here.

This was a disaster! We waited 10 minutes at the door before anyone even recognized we were there. Then another 20 minutes before drink orders were taken. Then (despite all the drinks/food we were ordering) we were told 2 of us could not order $9 salads as main meals and would be charged $16 each!! Plus, the servers were NOT friendly
Cons: , Too Expensive
