9 months ago I got my third pet from the shelter. The first two are now 11 and 12 years old. Sam, the last one is about 1 1/2 years old.
I took Sam out thursday afternoon about 1:00 pm, and kind of stumbled down the back stairs. I lost the hold on the leash and he went walking down the driveway to the street.
Well, he had never been loose before and i was worried. He didnt know about card, kidnappers, and the like. I drove around the neighborhood for about 2 hours looking. He loves to go for rides and if I saw him and opened thje rear door on the station wagon he would come running and jump into the back.
About 5:00 that afternoon I called the shelter and left a voice mail. The next morning I calledf again and spoke to Barbara. She said there was a voice mail about a dog hung up on a leash behind the carrage house at 67 south water street. Thats about 2 blocks from me.
So I went there, looked, called sam by name, but had no luck. So I came back home.
Later that day, two NHPD officers came to the door, and i looked out and there was sam being held by one of the officers on his leash. They had an almost empty box of dog treats that I assume sam had been helping himself to.
Well I took the leash and said thanks to the officers but i thought i would write this thank you to the shelter and the officers.
I guess they have better luck finding subjects that I do because they found him where I had looked that morning.
Again, thank you to new havens finest, because sam may be the best one yet.

Southern has a decent educational program, and the professors of each program seem to have a solid background and an ability to pass this knowledge on to others. The problem is in the overall structure of the university. The Business Office, Financial Aid Office and the like always seemed to be misplacing documents and have you running in circles.

Finally - a way to meet other young people in New Haven! If you're in the 25-40 age range, it can be hard...Young-Pros hosts a monthly happy hour and other fabulous events to help young professionals meet each other. Make new friends, network, win a door prize...they do a really great job of selecting great locations, and the folks are a nice mix. I'm a Yale alum and current grad student, but it's also fabulous to have a happy hour that introduces me to folks who are not Yale students!
Check out the website: www.young-pros.org for upcoming events, or register to be on their email list.
