My hair is naturally fine, dry, and can't seem to decide whether it is wavy or straight - not exactly easy to work with. At every other salon I've been to, I ask for a cut that will work with the natural (unstyled) texture of my hair, but I always seem to end up with something that looks great blown out and crummy every other day. Karma was the first salon I have ever been to where the stylist (I had Cassie) was actually successful in giving me a cut that makes my hair seem fuller, softer, and smoother every day, regardless of how much (or little) I style it. Even two months later, the cut still looks great. And because Karma doesn't sell hair products, the product recommendations Cassie gave me weren't the $30 bottles of shampoo at the front of the store but simple, affordable products that work great for my hair. For as long as I'm in New Haven, I will definitely be sticking with Cassie at Karma.

I always go to see Jamie whenever I get my hair cut - he is so meticulous and takes his time to really do it correctly. I find that my hair falls perfectly for the next two months (until I come back for my free trim!) and I always feel relaxed afterwards. Plus, he's just a really nice guy. I definitely recommend Karma.

Decided somewhat on a whim to go from my natural dark brown shade to platinum blond. Cassie transformed my hair, and made sure to do it in a way so that my hair (which had undergone some serious treatments) was still soft, shiny and smooth. She also gave me an amazing, versatile cut that looks great whether I take the time to blow it out or tousle some gel in it and let it go curly. I am so satisfied and will definitely be going back to see her! I highly recommend it!

Karma Salon is the best. After a terrible and costly experience at another salon, I tried Karma based on a recommendation from a friend. Christie is such a great stylist! She really listens to what you want, and is honest about how it will work with your hair texture, and how much effort you will need to put in to maintain it. She spent a lot of time asking questions about what sort of things I liked and wanted in a haircut before even getting started. Very impressive! I ended up spending a quarter of what I did at the other salon, and left looking and feeling a hundred times better. I always get a ton of compliments on my hairstyle after it is done, and Christie cuts hair in a way that it will grow in nicely, and you can change the part and it still looks good. Also... When you are at Karma you are treated so well. At the Salon where I had a bad experience, I was barely given the time of day, probably because I wasn't carrying an Hermes handbag and talking about me recent trip to Europe. At Karma, you are welcomed warmly and offered something to drink, and the vibe in the room is so friendly. You can tell that the stylists all are friends with one another, and the way that they treat their clients is friendly and down to earth. I can't say enough about this place! I'm so glad that I went. I will continue to go there as long as I am living in the area. I would probably even travel pretty far if I do ever move... -Sharon

I have been going to Karma for many years and have always had a wonderful experience. The staff is warmly courteous and professional and their expertise is truly impressive. I find I am frequently complimented on my haircut and color by perfect strangers--not only in New Haven, but around Connecticut and in New York City. The compliments inevitably go something like this: "WOW! Your hair looks great! Terrific cut and I love the color (I have purple streaks)! Where do you get it done?" The first time this happened I thought the stranger was just being polite but it has happened so frequently over the years that I know the compliments are real. I ought to mention that I am no gorgeous young chick but a mature professional woman, so the intensity of the response is pretty surprising. Thanks, Karma!
