500 Blake Street is known as a reception facility for weddings - sort of Victorian and Italian decor with nice woodwork for inside photos on the staircase. They have a happy hour that is popular with both SCSU college students and professionals. The best feature of Blake Street is their amazing brunches on Sundays.
A bargain for a brunch in the area, it includes fresh fruit, antipast, seafoods including smoked salmon, shrimp, poached salmon, cold salads such as portbello mushroom, bagels, scones, croissants, hot buffet items such as carving station with beef, turkey, ham, or porketta. Home fries, pasta, chicken entrées, bacon, fresh fish of the day, and other entrées.
Belgian waffles and omelettes made to order.
Ice cream bar, strudel, various desserts, key lime pie, bread pudding with rum sauce, mousses, cakes.
Champagne comes with the buffet. Reservations are needed.

This is much more than you'd think of an Irish pub - it's interior is quite large with plenty of seating, and it seems to consider itself more of a restaurant than a bar or pub. The food is typically better (higher quality) than what you'd find at a "pub". The food is excellent and portions on the larger side. Prices are par for restaurant food in the city. The bar tends to get lively at night, especially on the weekends.

I went to this restaurant with my wife and a few friends, which was recommended by a food guide. We had reservations at 7pm. When we arrived, there was only a few tables occupied. We were seated promptly. The interior was fair; tables had white linen, but covered with glass. Service was not at all good. When the waiter arrived to talk about the specials, it was difficult to hear him, because the background music was pretty loud and the waiter spoke softly. We needed him to say them a few times. The menu had a lot of items; a lot of meat dishes, especially one full back page for veal. Not much variety in pasta or vegetarian. Most dishes had either a wine sauce or tomato-based sauce. Hardly saw any cream-based pastas, nor lasagna (I thought this was Italian?). Portions were huge. My friends ordered a tri-color salad that was big and did not taste as it was described in the menu. They commented on some bitter tasting greens and lack of flavor from the dressing. We received some side salads that came with our meals, but the greens were flat and not dressed well; as if they were just thrown on a plate; I even had a piece of green stuck on the bottom of my plate. They only placed a bottle of balsamic vinegar and salad oil on the table for us. The pepper mill didn't even crank out visible pepper grinds, mostly dust. Entrees came on large dishes. My wife had the seafood mix on linguine, I had the seafood mix risotto. I forgot to mention that dishes that did not have tomato or wine sauce were mostly breaded or crusted. The linguine was cooked under al dente. The seafood was not at all cleaned very well. The mussels still had sand in them, and the squid parts still had beaks in them. The risotto was heavily cooked with tomato so it was difficult to enjoy the creaminess often expected from risotto. The wine list was half decent. Waiters just stood around, and was even difficult to grab their attention when we wanted to get the bill.
Pros: parking
Cons: large portions, service, neighborhood

This is a great arts center to use as a rental hall for small parties for children or small business gatherings. They coordinate activities for childrens parties including building projects the kids can keep. The room has nice details yet can accomodate any decorative decor you might need to bring, and parties or gatherings for both adults and children do not look like they are out of place. It is probably too small for a wedding, but perhaps a bridal shower could fit. Located in a nice part of town. I believe they have a website you can get more details.
