Holy Family was my wife's parish for the years she lived in Delaware. The church itself is very modern and adheres to the "church in the round" mentality, so if you like old-fashioned stained glass and tiled mosaics, this isn't the church for you. The people seemed really friendly, and there were at least three priests and two deacons stationed at the parish. One thing that really stands out about this church is how they decorate for advent and lent. You have to see it to believe it.

Bugaboo Creek Steak House prides itself on bringing the Canadian Rockies to the Mid-Atlantic. In reality, it's pretty much an Applebee's or TGIFridays, but just themed differently. If you're looking for true Canadian Rockies fare, this isn't it (and I would know). But if you're looking for a decent Friday night spot to grab a burger or some nachos, this place is more than fine.

I was able to find everything that I needed for my son to play football. I have also been able to find sneakers and boots here for my entire family. They also have a neat rewards program that gives you points for every dollar you spend. They also send you coupons if you are a member of the rewards program. The prices are also very competitive.

Dollar Express is probably one of the best dollar stores I've ever frequented. They've got several coolers in the back always stocked with milk, eggs, and juice, not to mention several freezer cases. The store is HUGE, and I have yet to wait more than 3 minutes to check out. A great store. Non-perishable selection is good, and cleaning supplies are fantastic and often name-brand.

I went to the Staples in Newark, DE after being disappointed by the location in Elkton, MD on Black Friday. I figured it was a long shot but I had to take a chance to see if they had the camera I was hoping for. Well, I went in and got in a humongous line to wait my turn after being told that the item I was looking for would be behind the counter if there were any left. AFter waiting in the line, which, miraculously, moved pretty quickly, I found that they did have the camera. Not only that but the associate even asked if I wanted the memory stick that went along with the camera and was also on sale! I was overjoyed that they were so helpful. This Staples location had done the right thing by having the item behind hte counter rather than out on a table AND by having enough of them to satisfy at least the first 90 minutes worth of customers!
This is a large Staples store and I have shopped here many times. The associates are helpful and nice and the store is generally very well stocked. I'd recommend travelling the extra distance to go to this store over the brand new onein Elkton, MD.

I collect comic books and I have for many years. I always buy them at Captain Blue Hen comics. As you might know, the local college, University of Delaware has a mascot of a blue hen, and that is where this name comes from. For a small store they have a really good selection of comics, trading cards, and various collectibles. They do have promotions, like free comic book day, and meet the authors of comics for autographs, they do things like Harry Potter day, and things like that, but not just for kids. I should also mention the employees are also comic book collectors, so they can help you out a lot.

I have seen several movies at the Regal Cinema at People's Plaza. I have to first comment that I think that the price of movie tickets is outrageous! But, this is the case at all theatres!
That being said, I usually go to matinee shows to save a bit. The theatres are clean and comfortable.
My daughter and I also enjoyed the Family Fun Festival where they show free movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. That was nice. We saw some cute movies for free. My daughter loves the theatre experience!
This theatre also has an arcade area in the front lobby. This is nice if you arrive early but it is definitely a money eater, especially if you have little kids who want to try it all!

Colonial Gardens is chock full of students at the nearby University of Delaware, within walking distance of the complex. Rental for these apartments are reasonable, but I've heard many complaints about water damage, mold growth, and general maintenance issues. Although I know several graduate students who lived peacefully at Colonial Gardens for several years, their main rationale was its convenience to campus. Given the crowd and the college town, don't move in expecting a quiet neighborhood.
