Don't Leave your Books with these Thieves!

More
I was a happy member of the bookateria for several years while attending the University of Delaware as a student, and over this period dropped off many of my science fiction/fantasy paperbacks with them for credit. Limited dorm room space necessitated maintaining a small bookshelf. I accumulated approximately $390 in credit, with roughly 30 scifi credits (I traded in hundreds of SF/F books, to purchase a scifi book with your $ creds you need scifi creds on a one-one basis).
Eventually I graduated, and left Newark for another part of the state where I had found employment. About 3 years later I stopped by the Bookateria, looking forward to redeeming more of my (presumably still valid) credits, only to be told that my card was no longer on file and that the hundreds of dollars worth of credit I had with them would not be honored. It wasn't that they had lost it... They unabashedly informed me that they had purged their files as a matter of routine, assuming that I (and presumably other accounts) had left Newark never to return.
There is no policy posted in the store about credits "expiring" after a certain period. I left hundreds of dollars worth of paperbacks with these people in good faith, fully expecting that my credits would be valid in perpetuity. My recommendation would be to avoid this store at all costs, but if you simply must trade with them, only accumulate as much credit as you need each visit, because if you don't return right away it's likely to vanish!

According to me, this place is just ok. They are good in stacking all the magazines - monthly to daily but they lack even the most important of the books. I remember the day when Harry Potter Book 2 was released but they did not have it for the first 3 days. Only after there was a wide protest from the regular customers did they bring in the book. Their price is reasonable. This is a nice place for magazines - you can take that from me.

I have seen this bookstore make enormous strides to become more relavant to the community. Under the store’s boss’ leadership the inventory and events calendar has grown immensely. I just hope that the citizens step up to support the bookstore as it is trying to support their needs and their children's needs. Nice place but is a bit expensive.

I have been to better bookstores in the area. The only specialty here is their collection of comics. Their collection, according to them is unique and vast compared to other bookstores in the vicinity. I did not care to verify that though. I took my kid once to this place and his reviews of this place too is not that good. Yes, he does like comics but he found another place more interesting than this one. They charge you nominally but I think they could give some discounts to some of the regular visitors. I once was a regular visitor but not anymore. Hope this helps!

This is one of my favorite places in town. They are the best among all in the bookstore genre. They give you a whole lot of goodies to all the customers. They also throw in several discounts for their regular visitors. They have a soft music playing all around in the store, which is very soothing, and makes you stay there for that extra hour. I like the way they have designed the whole store. The aesthetic touch is very special and looks very expensive for a small bookstore in town.

This store is excellent. While it may require some hunting you can trust that it will pay off in the end. And the hunting is kinda fun...and you must agree or you probably wouldn't care to know about the bookstore in the first place. This place has a great energy and vibe, which is not found in your other traditional places in town. We especially enjoy the power, and the prices are great.

I'm lucky enough to live down the street from (has to be) my favorite bookstore. Besides the great selection of materials you have, I enjoy strolling down the street at midnight for my fresh copy of Harry Potter. :) I like they way they promote a deal or advertise a book to their customers. They have a children section too to keep your kids busy while you are busy hunting down the books. Keep up the good work!!!

More
Lieberman's University Bookstore is a pretty decent place to find books for your UD classes. Compared to Delaware Book Exchange, this place is much, much better. It gets really crowded at the beginning of term, so be aware that a brief stop to pick up a few textbooks may take you an hour and a half.

Good selection of books. They have a children's section too. They also have magazines, videos, music, and more. The staff are always available to assist you and keep the store very organized. The checkout line is a pain when it gets real long though. This store is part of a shopping center so there is plenty of parking.

Rainbow is a used book and CD store. They buy stuff from you then re sell it. I took them 20 cd's once and they offered me 50 cents each, $10 for 20 cd's. I said forget it. Then before I left another guy that worked there said ok I'll give you $15 cash or $20 store credit, I said ok sure. Later that day a girl that worked there told me one of the CD's was worth at least $25 because it was a Japan import and they were calling me a sucker after I left. Once I sold them a book for $1 and it turned out I had left my drivers license in it and the guy that worked there said I could have it back for quote "twenty bucks". I went to the Newark police and then he just gave it back and said he was only joking. Do not trust this store.
