Deer Park Tavern is exactly what you would expect from a college town's local pub: cheap food, drink specials, and a young atmosphere. Depending on the season, Deer Park regulars shift from college frat guys to townies and locals. Their half price burger day packs the place, but be on the lookout for undercooked meat; I've had to send mine back a number of times. Their nachos and wings are equally as tasty, but don't expect more than bar food. While you're there, ask your server about Edgar Allen Poe's visits to Deer Park.

Deer Park is most known as being Edgar Allen Poe's choice venue for drowning his sorrows in a pint or three (hence the raven logo of the tavern). This restaurant is housed in a vintage hotel from the early days of Newark; two floors of seating offer plenty of room for diners and drinkers. On almost every night, there's a special running, be it wings, burgers, or nachos. Prices here are a little steep, and the beer list is pretty limited, so limit your visits to discounted days. Watch their burgers, too. On 1/2 price burger nights, I've been given a barely cooked burger on several occasions. If you can stand telling the server to take it back and cook it longer, they've got some amazing fare.

A nice place to hang out with friends, sit back and relax with friends on their porch during summer. It has the old tavern look and quite a good location at the corner of main st. There is also good parking and some behind if you know where to look. They used to have 2.50 coronas on wednesdays now I guess its shiner bock. Saturday nights you get in with a 3 dollar cover which gets you a free drink ticket, and we usually get a guinness which is actually like 4.50, so a pretty good deal. I think they stopped playing hip hop. The regular band is diatribe.

I just love this place. It is located on main street, where all the action. The staff is great, the food is good. They also have a dance floor which turns wild and groovy on weekends. Great energy place for a college crowd. Easy to hit on chicks too :) A porch makes things easy for smokers Moreover the half price burgers are amazing.
