My wife (then fiancee) lived at Christina Mill for two years and was really happy with her experience. From my own experience there, the apartments are spacious, and the leasing staff is extremely accommodating to those that abide by the rules and pay their rent on time. When my wife needed a two-week extension before moving out, they had no problem catering to her request. The two downsides to this complex are: 1. rent isn't cheap, and will most likely increase every year, and 2. parking can be an issue. Although a parking spot is guaranteed for every resident, we spent many evenings searching the complex for an available spot, only to find one halfway across the complex.

Colonial Gardens is chock full of students at the nearby University of Delaware, within walking distance of the complex. Rental for these apartments are reasonable, but I've heard many complaints about water damage, mold growth, and general maintenance issues. Although I know several graduate students who lived peacefully at Colonial Gardens for several years, their main rationale was its convenience to campus. Given the crowd and the college town, don't move in expecting a quiet neighborhood.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND A THREE BEDROOM APARTMENT I COULD FEEL SAFE AND SECURE IN. I HATE THE APARTMENT I WAS PREVIOUSLY RENTING"WATERVIEW COURT" IN CLAYMONT. BEYOND THE OBVIOUS REASONS OF LIVING IN CLAYMONT, I HATED WHEN ENTERING THE DUMP OUR CHILDRENS ROOM WAS THE FIRST ROOM. I NEVER FELT AT EASE. THEY WERE TOO CLSE TO THE DOOR FOR COMFORT @ CHELSEA ON THE SQUARE THE MASTER BEDROOM IS FIRST AND THE OTHER ROOMS ARE FOLLOWED BY A LONG HALL WAY...IM IN LUV. NOT TO MENTION THE PLACE WAS CLEAN&GORGEOUS!

One look at Park Place indicates how much of a college crowd resides here. Even the outside of this complex resembles aged fraternity houses, from the loud music to the assorted "trash" kept outside the units. I wouldn't claim that it's as bad as Towne Court across the street, but you can do much, much better than this complex. Something about it just doesn't look safe.

I know of two people who resided at Victoria Mews for a few years. Each one had a relatively good experience, and for different reasons. The building is pet-friendly, which is hard to find in Newark apartments. On the downside though, the walls and floors are VERY thin, and more than once I'd heard complaints that stereos and musicians have disrupted sleep or studying. Overall, the apartments are family-friendly and attract far fewer college students than nearby rental properties.

More
You'll be hard pressed to find a better apartment complex than University Courtyard if you're an undergraduate at the University of Delaware. Apartments are spacious, many with balconies, it's within walking distance of campus, and there's plenty of parking available. However, such perks come at a high price. Rental is extremely expensive, especially if you want a studio or one bedroom unit. The three and four-bedroom models are much more reasonable, but you've gotta find roommates. Don't bother unless you're a University student, and even then, you'll end up on a waiting list.

Towne Court Apartments are in serious need of renovation. When I was considering apartments in the area, I stopped by and was disgusted enough by the trash everywhere, dirty unit exteriors, and clear lack of care by the leasing agency. Though the rental agency claimed they had recently renovated, I didn't see where they might have been improving their image. There has also been a recent surge of violence associated with this complex, which alone is enough to turn me off. Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else.
