The Nashville Zoo at Grassmere zoo is a wonderful asset to Nashville. Our son loves going to see the different animals. They have an excellent educational programs for children to learn about different creatures. The cost is minimal for a few hours of fun. The zoo is adding a giraffe exhibit this spring that we'll definitely be checking out.

The Parent Teacher Store is like a toy store, but they sell fun and educational materials. They have so much selection, it is hard to decide what to get when you shop and I always end up overspending. They have materials to teach your child the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, how to read, write, do math and so much more. This is a wonderful place for homeshool moms to shop. The prices are reasonable and the staff very knowledgable.

If you like wave pools, this is a nice one. It is small compared to some pools, but it is generally well maintained and the facilities are clean. There is a water slide and picnic area. You can bring in your own drinks and cooler and have lunch there. There are floats and mats for rent for a small price. During the summer when it's open, it can be really crowded. It is in a park that has a nice playground and a skate park area for roller bladers and skate boarders. There is an entrance fee for the pool.

As many publications as there seem to be in Nashville, there's only one that seems reliable to find anything to do with kids- Nashville Parent. There's a complete calendar of events for the next month or so in every issue, which is very handy. I almost always find out about at least one useful service or website, as well. Lots of advice, particularly for parents of young ones.

My child has attended the Belmont Weekday school since age 2. We have been very pleased with the quality of care the school provides. The school is open from 9-3 with the option of attending Monday through Friday, just Tuesday and Thursday, or Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The school has apx. one classroom per age group and a great shaded playground the kids use twice a day. It's a place I can trust with my child, not always easy to find!

This center is located near the edgehill neighborhood and targets at risk teens by providing after school programs and camps, as well as leadership opportunities for kids. The run the safe place program where schools and other places can post a sign notifying students that this is a safe place to come to where they will be welcomed and cared for.
