I worked for Polly's 20 years ago when I moved to Nashville. I will tell you that the name Polly means honesty and excellent service. Kenny (Owner) not only taught me mechanical skills but also the importance of honesty. I was taught to diagnose not to just put parts on a car that arent needed till its fixed. This is a service center that is up on the new technoligy but still has old schools values on honesty, and integrity to its customers.
Pros: Honesty

I've always had good luck with Polly's service. We used to use them for my old work and I've been taking my car there for the random fixes that a 1998 truck needs. They are always very fast and reasonably priced.
Only downer (and not a full 5 stars) is if you leave your car for any length of time, it may smell like smoke when you pick it up. Kind of a bummer but other than that they take great care of you!
Pros: Quick service, good prices
Cons: Smokey

I was recommended to Polly Shell from a few different sources. The staff is always friendly and usually very quick in getting the job done. They do get quite busy, but work hard to get my car completed as early as possible. I recommend getting there early in the morning so your car is done much sooner :)
Pros: Customer Service, Price

Polly's is a family run business and they have been in business a long time. The men who own it now learned from their Father. They are loyal to their customers, honest and NEVER fail to help when you need them. They have always repaired our cars in a professional manner. They are especially courteous and kind. They NEVER fail to do the right thing by their customers and anyone who has written these reviews must expect something that is not humanly possible as I have never known the "Polly bosy" to be anything other than polite and kind to everyone who comes in their business. They appreciate their business and do all that they can to help one when in trouble with a car. They keep old cars running because they know some people cannot afford new ones. They never fail to offer some solution that is affordable to a problem. Thank God for the Pollys. They are not across from a church for nothing. Nancy Russell
Pros: Service and honesty
Cons: There are none

Although this shop came highly recommended by several people and these reviews, I will not be patronizing them. Additionally, they are located in my neighborhood. I patronize local vendors whenever possilbe. It is good to help the small businesses succeed.
My qualms: I called Monday to schedule a time to bring my 68 Caddy in to get the brakes looked at (I was in no rush-a week out would be fine with me given the high accolades). They told me to call back Thursday. "I can't schedule an appt later in the week or drop it off?" "No, call back Thursday."
Thurs morning rolls around and I call. They told me to call back tomorrow. I advised that is what they have told me already. Can I schedule an appointment? The guy on the phone hollered at someone else and still came back with "no." I persisted to try to get a firm time, finally the "boss/owner" got on the phone and asked if he could help. I said I would like an appointment, but questioned if they even take appointments. He advised he just didn't have time for my car. No joke buddy, that is why I want to make an appointment for when you do have time! A schedule-have you heard of one? Brakes are a 68 Caddy are pretty darn standard and doesn't take much expertise. I advised to him that even though several people had recommended his shop I will be taking my cars elsewhere. His response: "That's fine."
It appears that these bad reviews may be adding up. Make your own judgment, but I wouldn't use them if my car broke down in front of their shop and I had no money for a tow truck! Maybe big business will get my patronage afterall. They do tend to value their customers better.
Pros: In my neighborhood,
Cons: No scheduling, Somewhat rude, No customer appreciation

As a female in my young 20s, I had my first really big car problem and had to handle it on my own. I found Polly's Service Center on Citysearch and read great reviews. Polly's is absolutely exceptional, and I will recommend it to all my friends. I am BEYOND impressed by their friendliness, honesty and very fast service. I took the car in at 7 a.m., and they had installed a new starter by 11:45 a.m. I think they appreciated me calling ahead to see if they could fit me in, as opposed to just showing up. The final cost was ONLY HALF of the estimate - they charged less for the labor because I guess it took less time than anticipated. They made me extremely comfortable, and I am thrilled with an experience that could have been a lot more painful. When I thanked the mechanic and told him how much he helped me out, he said, "We just treat people the way we'd want to be treated." I will use Polly's anytime my car needs work. I highly recommend this place.
Pros: Extremely fast, honest service, made me feel comfortable
Cons: I didn't experience any cons!

I was referred to Polly's years ago by a friend who had literally used them since he was 16 years old. In fact, his dad was a customer of Mr. Polly from way on back. I have been taking my vehicles exclusively to Polly's for about 5 years now, and have not had anything but great service. I have found Polly's Service Center to be very honest and affordable. Their prices are standard market rate, but you can trust their work to be done right the first time. I have a better than average knowledge about car repair, and do some of my own work. So I can "speak the language" with confidence. I've found nothing but great service and straight forward answers. Kenny Polly will not cheat you. They are my kind of mechanics ... they'll tell you it has to be fixed, or that you can "live with it a while longer." They are not magicians, and cannot perform miracles, so I'm sure they get things wrong sometimes - but deception is not their business model in a market where you are often deceived. You can trust them.
Pros: Honest. Good at what they do.
Cons: Very busy most of the time - but that's a sign of good customer return!

I am a 28 year old woman with little knowlege about cars. I took my car to Polly's and they did a great job. Dale let me know what was wrong with my brakes and what options I had (three or four different suggestions). He told me what he would do if it was his car. He explained how long I could wait to get the problem fixed and how to spend the least amount of money. The entire process took less than one day from start to finish. The service center is tiny and chaotic but they did a great job on my car. I have been living in Nashville for five years and my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner.
Pros: honest, fair, reasonable
Cons: busy- definitely call ahead

I've been taking my automobiles to Polly's for 15 years and have always been impressed with their serivice, and I've referred a number of my friends, who have also had very kind things to say about Polly's. I've now moved accross town, but go out of my way to let them do work on my vehicles. Reasons why:
They're honest and straightforward. They don't recommend work that doesn't need to be done (they'll usually advise against it if you suggest it).
They do a good and thorough job.
They do the work for a very reasonable price.
They don't attempt work they're not qualified to do-- my wife's car had extensive wiring problems, so I took it to Polly's. Mr. Polly checked the car out and told me it was out of their league, but he was able to recommend a place that specialized in such work. THAT place did a great job for a good price.
If they notice a problem you weren't aware of, they'll call you and explain it.
If you have an emergency ("oh, geez, this is my only transportation to work"), they'll do their best to help you.
If you have a question about their work, they'll explain it until you're content.
Some here have complained that they can be rude, but I see them as being honest and direct. They are VERY busy most of the time, so it's always best to call ahead and make an appointment if you possibly can. They do have to be careful about managing the space on their lot (it IS small) and they don't like to have vehicles sitting on their open lot overnight.
Like his father before him, Kenny Polly is a fine man and I have no reservations about trusting my vehicles to his staff. If I lived out of state and had a child in college in Nashville, Polly's Shell would be taking care of their auto. They've got a great towing service, too.
Pros: Honesty, Integrity, Price.
Cons: Small lot, busy busy busy.
