We too stopped in at Tootsies because of it's reputation. It can be a little shocking that it is so small and rundown, but if you are willing to appreciate it's history- you'll have a great time. We heard some great bands there, namely Jake Mauer and Joanna Smith. Both were excellent artists and knew how to put on a great show! On top of that though, they both had an amazing fiddle player. I believer her name was Kari Nelson. Wow. That girl can play and entertain a crowd.... when she started rocking out Devil went down to Georgia- the crowd literally doubled! We had a great time and stayed for the entire gig. Give the place a chance and enjoy the night out! Pros: great music, great fiddle player, good drinks Cons: crowded

I love Tootsie's. It's totally a tourist stop, but I can't help but have a good time. The bartenders are really good and most are friendly. The upstairs has an outdoor area, which is small, but the only place smokers can be! Two floors, two bars, and two bands. Also, Tootsie's has no cover charge. If you can stand the crowd and the pricey drinks, it's definitely worthwhile. I live here and enjoy it very much. It's a great place to take out of town guests who may not be in touch with their "honkey tonk" side! Pros: Can't help but have fun here Cons: not cheap / crowded

I was priviliged to meet Tootsie, She was a grand lady. She treated you like you were her friend. She is missed by all that knew her. She put my records on her jukebox and my picture on the wall before anyone else did. I thought a lot of her. The greats and the has beens and the never was, were her friends. She helped so many. I know she has a place in heaven and still serves that good chili and keeps order with that famous hat pin. Pros: You can feel the past when you walk thru the door Cons: I can't visit enough

i am a performer and have sang for over 40 years. just to go in and see the bands, people, photos on walls,and everyone just haveing a great time.i was some dissappointed that the bands performers were'nt dress up more and u know the flashy stuff butthats just my thing.. i read the reviews and i disagree with those who had bad service or didnt like. go to spargo in l.a if u need to be disappointed. i loved that upstairs and down had music, staff was very friendly and my favorite person billy block and band was there, he is such a great m.c that u feel like your family and start tapping your feet and yelling ah right u go baby yea. my advice is for every one to walk in as if you your going to have the time of your life.ya all rock!! Pros: great music, excitment of people around you, Cons: the bathroom small, stairs to upstairs shaky

We were just in Nashville for a convention & visited Tootsies bar everyday. There was a female fiddle player that played with several of the bands & she was FANTASTIC! She was playing with a different band everytime we went in & sounded better than all of them! This gal should be famous by now....Not sure of her name...but I think they called her "Ms. Corey". Bar was crowded everytime we were there, but worth it to here her play!

My best friend and I just got back from a long weekend in Nashville. We wanted to try out all the different bars on Broadway and 2nd, but ended up at Tootsie's every night. The live entertainment there is awesome... You MUST hang out upstairs and see Leslie Craig. She is an amazing singer and so much fun! Also, the bartenders are super nice and it's always crowded there.... which goes to show you that everyone has fun at Tootsie's. That was our first time in Nashville and we will go back soon... thanks to Tootsie's!!!! :) Pros: awesome music, good service, tons of people Cons: the bathroom is really hard to get to from upstairs... but there's a secret one next door if you go out the back door. Ask the door man. He will know.

A friend and I spent three days in Nashville in June. We LOVED Tootsies. Yes, it is old and no, it is not fancy. It is a good, beer drinking, live music, country bar, which is exactly what these Texas girls were looking for. The staff was wonderful and we met a great guy from Atlanta there and partied with him the next night, also at Tootsies. Another friend celebrates her 40th December of '09. She wants to celebrate it at Tootsies. After spending many years in Austin, it is Tootsies and Nashville for us!!!! We stayed in a hotel down the street and felt safe walking to and from the hotel, even after dark. There were many great bar-b-que places close by. We can't wait to go back. Pros: Fun party atmosphere with great music Cons: Small, crowded, and tourist bus stops by
