I was at Edward over the winter when I fell on the ice and bruised my right hip, ribs, lower back and right kidney. I was treated well in the emergency room with care. X-rays were ordered, meds were administered and I was released six hours later. About two weeks later, I received the bill and it was over two thousand dollars. The hospital never billed my insurance company. I had to fill-out forms and consistenly get on Edwards case about the insurance. After two months, I received a separate bill from Naperville Radiologists. I had x-rays done at Edward, I never went to Naperville Radiologists. I thought the two thousand plus dollars included the x-rays. I was wrong. So I was back on the phone with the insurance company who was more helpful than the hospital. After three months, everything was straightened out. Everyone had their money. I would like to know why I am paying for the Edward remodeling or the new addition to the heart hospital? I only fell on the ice and was in the ER for six hours. I was never admitted, I wasn't even given water to drink. I will think twice about going to Edward in the future. I have to admit though, the nurses were very helpful, I only saw the doctor twice and he was very pleasant. The radiology techs were very sweet and very helpful. Everyone genuinely cared about me. For that I am grateful.

I think the one thing that really sticks out in my mind about Edward Hospital, except that everyone calls it Edwards, is that parking is beyond horrible. I was circling around and around while in labor and was about to just pull up to the emergency room entrance before we found a parking spot. My review is based on the maternity ward, since that is the only treatment I received there. They show you the best room in the hospital when you take the tour, but you are only in the nice room until you deliver. Then you get a dated, normal hospital room. The light above my head kept buzzing, the shower leaked, and the chair was broken so my husband was very uncomfortable much of the time. The food is just so-so. The staff is very good, at least. They made sure I knew how to take care of my baby (it was my first) before I left the hospital, and they were always quick to respond when I pressed the call button. I suppose that is what is really important when you need to be in the hospital!

I delivered both my children at Edwards and I was very pleased with the Labor & Delivery Facilities - all rooms are single suites (no sharing!) and the nursing are courteous, professional, and attentive. I have also visited the Emergency Department a few times (for my children) and I am also pleased with the quality of care, especially from the nurses. The admin dept, however, is fairly disorganized - eg. my child had an xray in the hospital as part of his visit, but it was billed separately from the visit and the provider had no information from the hospital and I had to act as a go between between them and my insurance company (the ordeal lasted five months)! Overall, though, I am pleased with their service. They have also added a new Pediatric ER area and a Heart Center.

They have a new heart facility that is top of the line.
I have had out patient surgery performed at this hospital and I must say the staff was wonderful. I felt my care was their top priority.
Billing area needs work but they do try to resolve all problems.
