We had Handy's Heating put in a new furnace and ducting. The sales people were fine, but the installers came late and left early several days in a row and then charged us for a full 8 hours of labor plus travel time for each day that they worked. When we tried to resolve the issue, neither the installation department or management would return our calls. The most common response to our phone inquiries was I don't know anything about it, let me check into it and get back to you. After more than five phone calls, still no response. When we finally pinned them down on the bill, Handy's refused to remove any of the fraudulent charges, which amounted to almost 9 hours for two installers at $60/hour.
The moral of the story... Get every penny in writing. Better yet, hire a more honest and reliable company.

Problems:
- Actions are not logged. It's difficult to get techs to come out to begin with and when you do they don't log their actions. When you try to follow up on a service issue you find out no one knows anything about it.
- Tech don't returned calls. Techs promise to return or call but they don't. If you call them you run into problem number 1 above.
- Management doesn't return calls. If you call about a service issue you run in to problem number 1 above. The person will promise to find out what's going on and call you back but usually doesn't. Once the service manager promised to call me back and then went on a service call himself without following through.
- Techs are not trained on the fireplaces they sell. We brought what we 'thought' was a reliable fireplace insert (we certainly paid enough for it) from Handys about a month ago and now find out it's a new line at Handys and no one (except maybe one tech) knows anything about it. If that tech isn't available we're out of luck. The fireplace has had numerous problems and still isn't working right.
- There's no way to leave a message if you call after hours. Their voice mail simply directs you to call their emergency number. If you call that number and it's not a actual emergency they don't respond.
All in all we're pretty dissatisfied with Handys and would not do business with them in the future.

We chose Handy's Heating to do the annual service on our furnace, and will call them again next year. They were very friendly and courteous, both on the phone and in person. The man they sent to check our furnace was very helpful--in addition to the routine service, he showed me how to change the filters and checked on something that we were concerned about with one of our vents in the house. Handy's offers a discount on any service or repairs needed on your furnace when you choose them for your yearly service.
