This store is a special place. Be sure to pick up their schedule of events and attend some of the free workshops, concerts and lectures. Others charge a small fee, but offer valuable information or healing opportunities. The store itself is well stocked and features a large fountain area where people can cast wishes, intentions, and prayer requests that the staff attends to on a regular basis. They sell lots of gift items, books, and metaphysical items. It's a large store, so spend at least a half hour for the first visit.

La Monique's is so good, my Mother-in-law times her visits up from Irvine to coincide with her need for a pedicure. For $25, you'll get a wonderful hour of soaking, scrubbing, nail-trimming, massaging (including a hot-rock calf rub!) and paraffin wax dip. Oh, and the polish, of course! The girls are friendly, the atmosphere is jovial, and the instruments and tub are sparkling clean. I count few things a bargain, but a La Monique pedicure is among them!

This is a great Italian restaurant located on Castro Street in downtown Mountain View, CA. We've been back several times and the food has never let us down.
The risotto is yummy and changes every night, so be sure and ask your waiter for the special of the day.
the owner is always there so it gives the place a homey touch. Once you've been there he recognizes you and welcomes you back - you feel as though you are "home."
Try it, I know that you'll like it.

Minton's Lumber and Supply is located at 455 West Evelyn Avenue in Mountain View. It is our one stop shop for hardware and home maintenance needs. I prefer them to the bigger chains due to their professional staff who go out of their way to help the customers. Their prices are reasonable and they have contractor information if you do not want to do the job yourself.

I did about four months of the mysore ashtanga program at Yoga is Youthfulness ("YiY") and it was great - the best practice ever. (I stopped because I changed jobs.) The teachers are talented and most importantly, they are friendly. They do everything with good humor. If you want to learn more about ashtanga or mysore, check out their website.
YiY has other yoga classes, too as well as occasional parties and monthly hikes. They're a really friendly group and the students come from diverse backgrounds.
If you are in the area, please check it out.

Terry is honest, dependable, and a great mechanic all-around. The prices are just OK and higher than other mechanics that might not do such a great job. I had my front tire rotors and brake pads replaced for around $370 (parts, labor, and tax). He took me to the floor and showed me what was wrong with the parts that were causing the squeaky noises in my tires. He also saw that my oil was low and topped it off. A plus is that Terry gives rides to and from your location if you are nearby. I have many friends that recommend Terry and has had many positive experiences with him. Give him a try and you will not go away disappointed.

If you've never seen a PYT mainstage show, then you probably don't realize how professional their productions are. If anyone saw 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast' at the Mountain View Center for Performing Arts (runs thru 11/20- although almost all sold out now), you'll know what I mean. The sets, costumes and lighting are designed professionally and the directors, choreographers and music directors have tons of experience. And you'll be amazed at the level of talent in the kids. I have a son who's performing in his 9th show with PYT and we love the whole experience. The shows for the rest of the season are Cats, Honk, Wonderland and Annie Get Your Gun. You and your kids will all love the experience.

I used to work right across the street from the Country Deli and I was so bummed when my company moved. The Country Deli offers a great range of salads and sandiches plus heart daily specials like spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread. This place is BUSY at lunchtime, but don't be scared off my long lines, they are really quite efficient at getting you through quickly.

I've been to most public courses in the area and its usually the same story. Yellowish rough, unmaintained greens, divot-stricken fairways, etc. When I came to Shoreline, I really thought I was playing at a private country club. The course was so beautifully maintained. The course itself poses some challenging holes and some well architected doglegs that might even give 0-5 handicap golfers a bit of trouble. I played in the morning at 7am and most golfing packs were moving at a good pace so I was able to finish under 2 hours before work. The rate is a bargain for 9 holes if you're a Mountain View resident at $18 while $25 for non residents. Hopefully all golfers who visit this course keep it beautiful because I know I definitely will make this a weekday favorite.
