Ordered the red curry with pineapple and chicken. There wasn't very much chicken in the dish, which actually wasn't a bad thing, since it was dark meat and they had left the fatty skin on it.. Not very appetizing. Also had the pad thai with shrimp, which was very bland. Have eaten here on several occassions, and have never been very impressed by the food. Probaby won't go back. On the upside, the service is okay, and the meals are delivered quickly.

Well, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Amarin is definitely better. I don't know what the positive reviews are about this place. Must be from people associated with the business or from customers that they "like." Just a guess, either way, wish we had a good experience, but didn't. Would not recommend this place for mulitple number of reasons: food, ambience, service.
Went there on a weekend and should have realized, Amarin was filled and this place hardly had anyone there. Ordered tom kar gai soup, it was not very warm and the fish tasted a bit off. Also ordered a meal with duck and there was hardly any to be found in there, mostly mushrooms. When this was mentioned they claimed that they emptied one "bag" of duck, disgusting!
No, keep your distance or they need new management/ownership. Oh yeah and it was cold in there, especially in the bathroom area. There was a distinct draft. Bring a coat. The waitress, although nice forgot things that we ordered and when reminded, did not even as much say "excuse me" sorry, what have you.
Pros: None but if you must have Thai (even bad Thai and worse service) and Amarin a few doors down is too full and you don't want to wait
Cons: The food is simply not as good as Amarin a few doors down, and certainly not the service.

My boyfriend and I go to this restaurant whenever we want Thai. He orders either the cashew chicken or the mango chicken, I order the pad thai, and the food is always fantastic. I completely disagree with the person who wrote that this restaurant is vastly overrated. My best friend is Thai-American, and she says that this food is very good and quite authentic. I would give the restaurant five stars except that sometimes the service is slow.

There is no question, as relocated New Yorkers, we love this place for its food, service, the ability to sit outside, and the tremendous feeling of space with the high ceilings. We've been to the other Thai restaurants in the area and, believe us, there is no comparison between the freshness of the food here and at those places, the ambiance here, or the service. The only problem we ever had was one time we were seated near another family, regulars at the restaurant. The two kids were unruly, and, though we asked the staff to do something about it, they declined to do anything. Next time we'll either sit outside or look for seating away from this family. We surely won't be eating at the other places, where the food tasted like leftovers from the week before at one place and the presentation of food must have been taught at a roach coach school for the other.

The food is delicious and with a relaxing atmosphere. I eat there quite frequently. You should try the Som Tum (Papaya Salad) it is fresh and tasty and the green curry is always a must!

I like the decor of this restaurant. It feels very spacious. I have only been here for lunch. The food is reasonable for the price and the service is good.

Being on Castro probably brings in a fair amount of walk-in traffic, ourselves included. Saw a posting in the window about them having received Best Tahi Restaurant designation in Silicon Valley or some such. Well, that says much more about the gastronomic standards of Silicon Valley than it does about the quality of this restaurant. The latter is rather poor, the former is really really lame.

The main perk of this restaurant that its right on Castro street (downtown.) I think that thats where the price on your bill mainly comes from because the food isnt that exceptional. I dont even remember what I ate (it wasn't that memorable) but what I do remember is that I was reall paying attention to all of the decolations. They really stayed true to the thai theme. Try the thia tea, its really sweet but fun to try. This is a good place to have lunch, but it gets pretty crowded.
