My family has visited Amarin on multiple occassions, always with good reviews on the quality of the food, however the portions do tend to be on the small side. On my son's sixteenth birthday we decided to return and were dissapointed in both the quality and of our dishes and the serivce we received. The hot and sour soup was good however we were shocked at the amount of woody ginger root that we had to set aside! The green chicken curry was flavorful enough however the dish would have been better named bamboo shoot curry - the chicken was almost nonexistent; at most we found 2 tiny chicken slivers in an abundant sauce with what appeared to be half a can of slivered bamboo shoots. Our tamarind shrimp was delivered cold to the table and contained only three shrimps of medium size despite the claim of containing jumbo shrimp. Once I was able to get a wait person to the table and gave them the information about our meal, I was promised a manager would be notified. The check was delivered to us with no response and no explanation. We noted on the way out that a banner in the window of the resturant touted Amarin as the best Thai Food of 2007 by the Mountain View Voice; however our family is sure there are much better Thai choices in the Bay Area for us to discover.

I think this is a pretty good Thai restaurant in the south bay area. I always like the international mix of crowd when I am here, and it is always busy. I specially like the Roasted duck with red curry dish and the Pork Basil. It's great with rice. The food is good, but sometimes when it gets busy, the service is slow. Or to be precise, it takes time to have a waiter come get your order. Once the order is in, it is pretty fast. But overall, I like this place as a "easy" thai food place.

Went there with 4 co-workers for Thursday lunch. When I ordered my pad thai, I pointed to #1 pad thai that contains chicken and shrimp for $7.95. When the bill comes, I'm charged $9.95. We ask the waitress to correct this mistake. She says I ordered shrimp only, which costs $9.95. I told her that that was not what I wanted and if the dish came as shrimp only, it was their mistake, not mine, and I shouldn't be charged for that. She realizes this is her mistake and confirms that I had ordered #1. She talks to the owner to get a price adjustment and comes back accusing me of ordering a dinner portion, which would be $9.95 anyway. This is completely outrageous because I was clearly handed the lunch menu and she confirmed that I had ordered #1 for $7.95. The owner hears our continued discussion with the waitress and yells, "It's not a big deal!" in reference to our concern over the 2 bucks, which is completely rude and unprofessional. I could care less about the 2 bucks. At this point, it was the principle, not the 2 bucks. We get the corrected bill back and I saw that I was being charged $8.95 instead of $9.95. At this point, I was just really irritated. We grabbed the attention of another waiter finally got it resolved. I would not recommend this place because of the bad customer service and their condescending attitude. Their food is mediocre anyway. If they put that much MSG in their food, at least make it taste good.

Pad-see-ewe is my favorite noodle dish and the size is perfect for lunch. We have eaten here many, many times and never been disapppointed!! It is always clean, has a pleasant atmosphere, and provides quick service!! Pros: reliable fresh good food Cons: no refills on soda, parking can be tough on Castro

We ordered pad thai and some other dish but it was so disappointing. it was bland the portions were small too. the only advantage is that it was the only few open on the weekend for lunch. theres another thai place next to it but it was closed. Pros: parking is free in the back outdoor seating Cons: mediocre food, the tables are wobbly

I went to this place with my family on Father's Day based on the generally good user reviews here. We ordered 5 dishes. First, service was extremely slow (let's chalk that up to Father's Day). Of the 5 dishes, I would say 2 were flat-out bad (Beef Broccoli with Oyster sauce, Chicken Panang) and 3 were just extremely ordinary (House Special Fried Rice, Rock Cod Deep Fried Option 3, Spring Rolls). Service was friendly and nice, although they did seem disappointed that we weren't ordering drinks. My wife and I agreed halfway through - "we don't have to come back here."

This place has it all! There food and the service were great! If I have those 2 things, then my night is set! They have a big selection (vegetarian, too) and everything I've tried has been fantastic. My favorites are the Papaya Salad (Som Tum), Shrimp Pad Thai, Chicken or Duck Panang Curry, and my new favorite, Honey Pork. The service is fantastic. Their attentive and friendly EVERY time. If you like spicy food, you can vary the heat with a 1-5 heat system. Also try the pickled jalapenos (not thai chiles) in the little pepper rack with your meal. You have to ask for it and it goes along great with your meal. Adds even another layer of flavor. They're not open all day, so make sure you check the dining hours. They also have outside tables if it's one of those sunny days. Pros: Good Food, Good Service
