This lovely restaurant in Mountain View has the best Cuban food and I can't recommend it enough.
We went there Saturday night and after ordering their incredible sample tapas plate, we all had salads and split one or two more small dishes and were stuffed!
The live music starts around 9 pm and we stayed, listened, and danced a while - it was so enjoyable.

I wandered over from Quova and had lunch with three friends (Pat, Wendy, and Seth) at Cascal. It was a beautiful northern California day - the patio was full and buzzing. We sat inside and had an incredible tapas and paella lunch. The tapas sampler was great - a little meat centric (I'm a veggie), but still plenty of veggie stuff. I think had veggie paella, which was A+. Service was a little off, but that's easy to give them a pass on since they were swamped.
If you like Spanish food, this is a superb place for lunch.

A fun experience with lovely decor, Cascal offers a good selection of interesting tapas. This is an upscale restaurant and the prices reflect that. I was able to find several vegetarian items. This is a nice place to go when you are in the mood for something different. Save room to try one of the dessert beverages.

This is a relatively new (less than 2 years old) restaurant at the corner of Castro and California avenues (hence the name CasCal). It is a tapas restaurant where you order many tiny dishes. The food is very good. They have these wonderful drink specialties. They have patio seating outside or you can set in the restaurant. They have wonderful high ceiling. Nice for a business dinner or romantic date.

The first time I went to Cascal was on their pre-opening night. We had happened to walk by and were attracted to the beautiful lighting and well-dressed staff bustling around beautiful and sophisticated decor. We poked our heads in, intrigued by the warm atmosphere and were invited to try a free test meal as a practice for opening night. And it was WONDERFUL! And it's been consistently wonderful food ever since. Whenever we have friends and family in town, we will take them to Cascal for a delicious and not too heavy meal in a very beautiful environment with wonderful service and staff. My favorite dish is the Cuban black bean soup with a side of their delicious foccocia-like bread. They have wonderful meat but I prefer their fresh and flavorful Spanish vegetarian food.
