The 3 main factors in are assessment, Quality, People and Quality.
The restaurant is VERY popular so go early if you want to sit right down, otherwise, take some time in the bar and learn about tequila's. Ask Roberto(the Manager) to help you learn about the history of tequila and some of his experiences touring the factories in Jalisco.
They have very traditional Mexican food as well as some of the newer generational styles. I have tried just about everything on the menu over the past 10 years and although I have enjoyed all that I have tried, I tend to prefer the meat dishes(Chili Verde, Carne Asada, Enjaccacado, etc). The meat is always very tasty and plentiful. Even their grilled New York steak would rival any steakhouse. My wife really enjoys the tortilla soup. My daughters usually order the waiters special. Ask your waiter what their favorite thing is and try it. Many times it isn't on the menu and you will have a new favorite food!
The staff there is extremely friendly and courteous. They keep the chips and salsa filled and the drinks fresh. Don't even think of ordering Jose Cuervo at this establishment. They only carry real 100% blue agave tequila (you may not know this but Cuervo is not technically tequila. It is like a grain alcohol with yellow food coloring).
As for the margaritas, WOW! I am a bit of a tequila/margarita snob and will not tolerate amateurs making my cocktail. Fresh Mexican limes, Fresh sweet and sour and a heavy-handed pour make a margarita you will never forget. Want a little kick; ask for the Herradura Blanco 92, rocks.
Go to this resturaunt and enjoy yourself. If you go in the prime eating times, enjoy the wait in the bar. You will meet some great people and try some great drinks. Try new foods on and off the menu. Do not order what you always get somewhere else.
Pros: Great food, great people and the best margarita's
Cons: Busy in prime times. Sit at the bar and enjoy the wait with a tequila snifter.

My favorite mexican joint and I have eaten at too many of them. Their enchilada enjococcado is fantastic and can be made as totally vegetarian. in fact, there are a lot of options of vegetarians other than the regular cheese enchilada / beans and rice you find anywhere else. their enchilada sauces are notably good. the waitstaff is always courteous and takes good care of you. and last but not the least... best margaritas and outstanding list of great tequilas.

The basic mexican items are decent here (burritos, enchiladas, and tacos), but I wasn't amazed by the food. I have to say that mexican food isn't my first choice, so when I go for mexican I want it to be really good. The decorations are nice and it has a festive atmosphere. Can get crowded for dinner, so be prepared to wait.

Definitely my favorite mexican restaurant in the Moutain View / Palo Alto area. Very tasty enchiladas!
Loud and bright, but what else would you want in a Mexican restaurant!?

Gotta disagree with the review about the Margaritas! Ours were extremely potent and I couldn't help but notice the special 3 page Margarita menu. It was standing room only at 7pm on a Friday night , no surprise there. A steady flow of chips and their 3 salsas kept us going while we ordered. Our dinners arrived in record time and the food was fantastic. The only thing a bit disappointing was the typical grocery store type flour tortillas that came with the carnitas and maybe the decibel level in the restaurant...it's quite loud. The food and service was great and I'd definitely recommend it for delicious authentic Mexican food!
Pros: great food, authentic, reasonable price
Cons: noise level, american tortillas
