Fiesta Del Mar is a neighborhood mexican restaurant that doesn't serve average fair. So if you are looking for over-cheesed fried taquitos -- you won't get it there. If you are looking for great shrimp dishes, enchiladas and friendly service-- you've gone to the right place. They also have the best chicken soup! Their selection of margaritas and taquilas is extensive. This is a casual family restaurant. My hunch is that those who don't like it-- might be better off at El Torrito.

I like this location better than Fiesta Del Mar Too. While it's not close to the shops on Castro like the other one, the atmosphere was better and the food seemed better too. It is a lively place and there isn't much elbow room. I had the seafood (shrimp mainly) burrito which was heavenly.

Worth the long wait. Weekends and lunch on weekdays get crowded. Definitely try their shrimp plates and soups.
Pros: Seafood
Cons: Parking

The SHRIMP are a must here - any of them will do. Large butterfly shrimp cooked perfectly tender and served with salad and cheese over rice and piping hot! I know the traditional dishes aren't so traditional, so that's up to the goer's taste, i.e. the enchilada's have a heart stopping optional cream sauce. Margarita list was great, but the drink was OK. The staff were OK. The place is a very casual atmosphere, which is great... but I wouldn't go in hot weather. It was in the 90's and HOTTER in the restaurant than outside. A fan would do them wonders.

As far as Mexican food goes, I'm very picky. Fiesta del Mar is decent. The main dishes are tastey, but the sides could use some work. Of course, since the restaurant is always packed for dinner, the food is a bit slow in coming. This allows for ample time to sample their large list of margaritas - expensive, but worth the money. I highly recommend the house sauce on enchilada's or a burrito.

We recently went at lunch time with a large group of people. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of seating so we arrived after 1:00pm and we were seated right away. All the dishes were excellent. We had a number of vegatarians in the group that really enjoyed the dishes and the made them just the way they were requested. The service was very prompt.
I would continue to recommend them. Their prawn dishes are really good.
PROS: Great food and service
CONS: Not a lot of seating

Clearly one of the finest mexican restaurants in the penninsula. The service is timely, the food is consistently good, they are attentive to kids and the pricing is reasonable. We go there often.
