The only thing that really turns me off to this music store is when you first walk in, it's tiny. There's really nothing you can physically see that you would buy.
They have everything stocked up in the back. So I would only come here if I knew exactly what I'm looking for.
They sell intruments and misc. stuff like reeds, cork crease, etc. And instrument rentals. Not sure about sheet music becasue I don't see any. But they do have a music studio in the back although I don't know what they do there.

A wonderful throwback mom and pop video store that didn’t go the way of the do-do just because there’s a Blockbuster and a Hollywood Video down the street and this is because the rental prices are comparable, and the selection is amazing. Full of the hidden gems, and art films, as well as carrying the standard mass-run stuff. It has got a good selection of films that are still only available on VHS, things that you may have heard of and/or wanted see forever.

They are located in Mountain View and offer a variety of private lessons and group classes. They also have a workshop where kids get to try out different instruments. The CSMA fall semester has already started, but their private lesson instructors are often willing to start students anyway, provided they have room in their schedules.
In addition, they also have free concerts for kids and families on Sunday afternoons.

More
It began in 1960 in Sacramento, when Russ Solomon started selling records out of his father’s drugstore, it became a household name, and synonymous with counter culture, great selection, and good prices. It began as a champion promoting local artists and music, and expanded around the globe, but somehow it's stores all retain a bit of that neighborhood feel (expect possibly the WOW locations.) The Mountain View Store is one of it's best, carrying a wide-variety of everything (records, videos, and books, and boasting one of the best classical music departments anywhere. The staff can be apathetic, but the selection can't be beat. And there are people there in the bowels that really know and love the music as much as any customer. The new redesign is lacking, however. It's just a big wearhouse now.

I've always been partial to those smaller boutique shops when it comes to buying "high end" electronics. These shops tend to have more knowledgable staff. I ended up buying my first two sets of speakers from them (B&W 600 series and CM, now 700's) as well as my Rotel pre/pro from them. Pricing wasn't the greatest (10% discounted) but I figure with the relationship built there was worth the extra discount (if any) from other places. If you can wait for their annual sales and been a prior customer, you can probably get 15%, maybe 20% on in/over stocked items.
