Each time we visit california, we have to go to this place. This is true, authentic sushi similar to what you can find in Japan. Fish variety is amazing and nigiri are to die for. Amazing freshness, balance and taste. They also have great appetizers like fish liver in ponzu and fried tofu. The restaurant is always packed but the sushi is definitely worth the wait!

I'm always looking for a truly great Japanese restaurant for great sushi. A Japanese coworker recommended Sushitomi. When I arrived, Sushitomi was adorned with customers of Japanese descent, a good indication of sushi greatness.
Although the menu items on are common in all Japanese restaurants, what separates Sushitomi is the quality of their fish. Sushi is fresh and tasty. For $5, the Hamachi toro, like butter melting in my mouth, is to die for. Think all Japanese restaurants are the same. Try this one and your taste will never be the same. You'll become like me, a sushi snob.
Arrive early or endure the wait.
Pros: Fresh fish, Truly Japanese chiefs, Hamachi toro
Cons: Limited seating, Pricy

Sushitomi is probably the best japanese food, with the exception of one restuarant in Burlingame, in the South Bay.
The food is authentic in presentation and flavor. The sauces and dips have the right balance and acidity.
They even have items that only a japanese person would order.
Pros: sashimi, sake, otsumami
Cons: parking
