If you love cheese, the very best place in Mountain View to buy it is at the MIlk Pail, on California St. near San Antonio Ave. They have an unbelievable array of every sort imaginable--including many sheep or goat or buffalo cheeses. They also have some grains, seeds and nuts in bulk and a large produce department with low prices and the freshest fruits and vegetables around. They also have Uncle Eddie’s free range eggs for only $2.55/doz. Nice deep yellow yolks. I love the old world street market atmosphere at this store too--although if you don’t like being bumped and jostled a bit, this is not your place. The aisles are tiny!

Are you fussy about the quality of food you put into your body? I am, and I know, judging from the burgeoning number of organic items on most grocery store shelves that others are too. We are a health-conscious culture here in sunny California. In the Mountain View area there are 6 really good stores at which to buy your high quality foods . None of them have all I need, but each one has something special. So I can pick and choose. They are: Safeway, Albertson’s, Trader Joe’s, Mi Casa, Piazza’s, Bumblebee Health Foods, and Country Sun Health Foods.
