Dr. Paul and all of his staff are wonderful. We've taken all our pets there for over 8yrs. He has cared for our 3 cats and 1 dog. Our dog is quite particular (being that he's a poodle) but he absolutely loves Dr. Paul and his staff. Dr. Paul's voice is calming and he delivers optimal care to his furry patients. He's prices are reasonable. He does not believe in over-medicating, or ordering needless tests. He truly goes out of the way to provide great care and customer service. I have never found a DMV as kind and caring. I wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend Dr. Paul and Alta Vista Amimal Clinic.

We went there for lunch. We are big foodies and especially love gourmet seafood recipes. This place does it right. The tartar appetizer with salmon and hamachi was dreamy -- seriously! I will be dreaming about that one and coming back for it. My husband had the Petrale Sole -- healthy portion size, beautiful buerre blanc. I also had the Chicken Teriyaki Wrap (don't know why) and it was pretty tasty, but I wouldn't order that again. I should have tried something else. Most of the tables around us were ordering burgers -- they must be good there. And, the place was packed. What's interesting about the wine list: they have half bottles! I wish more places would do that. The half-bottle was made for restaurants. However, the red wine list is quite poor. We had to order a white while we'd normally order a red. We'll bring our own next time. The service was friendly, but a bit slow. Took us 15mins to get our bottle of wine. But, we'll forgive that as they were very busy. Oh, and another note: The waiter (Carlos) was really sweet, but he immediately reviewed the tip of each bill he picked up and would banter with the other waiters about it. The table next to us obviously left a small tip and he appeared to be ripping on them from the servers station --pointing them out to other waiters. We left a nice tip and he made a point to come up to us as we left and thank us. That's so cheesy. Waiters should really be more professional about the whole gratuity thing. Such a turn off. But, I'm ranting... that was a small issue in comparison to how great the food was. We look forward to coming back and trying some other items.
Pros: Great food! Does seafood right! Adequate portions!
Cons: Service is questionable, but we will try them again

The Milk Pail Market is a great little grocery store in Mountain View. It is located near Albertsons and Ross and is across the street from Safeway. You can find tons of great stuff at the Milk Pail Market, including fruits and veggies, ice cream, any many different kinds of European treats. I absolutely love the fruits and veggies they have there because there are all sooo extremely delicious and yet they are cheaper than basically anywhere, even Safeway and Albertsons! It is truly amazing. The interior isn't the nicest but I love it anyways!

Tower Records Video and books says it all about what you'll find inside. They stock the latest in everything. The book side has a separate entrance from the rest of the store. It is cozy but stocked full of a carefully chosen selection of popular titles. The rest of the store is organized into media types. Very easy to locate items you are searching for. The store is well kept and staff helpful and courteous.

I was born in Iowa and though my family isn't a farming family, we definitely had what I would characterize as a farmer's sensibility about animals--respectful, practical, utilitarian. With such an upbringing, it boggles the mind that my relationship with my dog (Daisy) has evolved to it's current state. She's a great dog (a mutt, the best kind in my opinion) and she's wonderful with my children, but the level of pampering is pretty rediculous.
One of the ways this manifests is in the monthly (ish) bath at our local Petco. You see, Daisy doesn't like cold water. Aparently it doesn't agree with her delicate sensibilities. Also, her skin is sensitive and prone to flaking so we dare not use harsh detergents on her. Finally, with the frigid climate here in Northern California (sometimes dipping in the 50s...gasp) a drying ritual, making use of both towels and blow dryers, is absolutely required.
With all these fussy requirements, we've found not just any dog wash will do - and certainly not the hose in the backyard which would have been considered ludicrous pampering by my grandfather. At any rate, Daisy and I are both happy with the facilities, supplies, and cost of the Petco dog wash (noting that Daisy seems less price sensitive than I am). And, since the whole spectacle provides about an hour of fun for the wife and kids (you should hear the squeels of glee when Daisy shakes her soapy fur all over me, and that's just my wife), I've found peace with the process.

Ed was just great! Friendly, honest and fair priced bids. He came out to my home and installed a heating and air conditioning. It works great! He explained everything throughly and even called to follow up after the install to make sure everything went well. Now, that's top notch.
