We live in the neighborhood and our whole family enjoys eating here. My kids have been specifically requesting our regular sushi night from MA Nster for the past two years. They are now 12 and 9. My son loves the chicken udon and the basic California Roll. My daughter loves the eel bowl and we all love the sushi, salads, dinners, etc. The sushi is always fresh and the place is always busy. The staff is attentive and polite. It is a staple for our family over other sushi places in town, whether eating in or getting take out.
Pros: Fresh food, good service and good for families or non-kid groups
Cons: street parking only

My husband is Japanese and he has grown up with truly authentic sushi, so he's hard to please - but he loves this place, and so does his entire family. My mother-in-law is even going to have them cater her New Year's Day Feast, which is a very big deal in Japanese familes. (Usually you have to make everything yourself for these feasts, but my mother-in-law really loves the food here). We have eaten here at least 40 or 50 times since this restaurant opened, and we are never, ever disappointed. We bring everyone we can here, and whether or not they were sushi fans going in, they certain were coming out! There are dishes that will appeal to everyone. Service is prompt, but since it is a small place, it's not really good for large groups unless you don't mind waiting a bit for tables to become available. It is bright and the decor is cute, but it is not a romantic spot. DEFINITELY try the Luxury Shrimp appetizer. Oh, it's so good we usually have to order a couple of them because evryone at the table keeps wanting more. Portions in general are quite generous and prices are not only fair, they are low for this kind of quality and freshness.
Pros: Excellent fresh food at really good prices
Cons: None

Since I moved away from Studio City and the millions of sushi restaurants, I was having trouble finding a place I truely enjoyed eating at. Not anymore. Manstar serves up generous portions of above average sushi for a great price. My wife and I regularly eat here for around $50 for dinner, and I eat A LOT. We never leave hungry. The wait staff is pretty attentive, and the food always comes out quickly. As a previous review said, we've introduced kids to sushi here, with positive results every time. Definitely my favorite sushi spot in the area.
Pros: Good food, Excellent prices
Cons: Can get busy on the weekends

Kids are welcome and being a less formal Japanese dining experience is the perfect introduction to sushi for kids. Children really should not be brought to formal Japanese restaurants as it ruins the whole ambience and dining experience for every one that is paying good money to eat there and chances are...to get away from whining kids.
If you want teriyaki, go to a beef bowl or something as they are always cheaper, faster and since thats what they focus on; are often times much better than the best sushi bars version of cooked food.
Not too bad for a Korean ran Sushi house.
Worth a few mile drive but thats about it.
Pros: Good service, Fair prices
Cons: Small dining area, Kid Friendly, Two seat sushi bar

In short:
The Food is ok if you ignore the rudeness of the hostess and have no kids with you. The staff does not like to cook or serve items from their kids menu.
