You order from a specialty brunch menu and the food is great especially the brunch potatoes. I've been 3 times and will continue to spread the word. Especially the one that says they ruined the wedding. My Fiance' has been dreaming of this day since she was a little girl, so I hope they have made changes. We had our company Christmas party here and it was wonderful. The food was devine. The salad was very festive with tasty. We had the filet mignon and chicken dijon combination. Both were prepared to perfection. You could have cut the steak with a fork. The potatoes were yummy as well as the vegetables. The dessert.....heaven. When they told us "chef's choice" I never imagined the beautifully presented chocolately decadent delight we were served. Our party was for 150 people and everyone I spoke to was impressed. The room, the view, everything. Any concerns we had were immediately addressed and handled to our satisfaction. The service at the event was professional and efficient. The only thing that was not as they represented was the number of bars and bartenders. The first hour was complimentary drinks for our guests. There were two parties going on that evening which had concerned us in planning our event. Were told there would be three bars - each staffed with two bartenders. In fact there were only two bars - each staffed with one bartender. Our guests did get their drinks, but they also had to wait in line (usually about ten deep). All in all - I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the restaurant for their banquet facilities. Pros: food, service and view Cons: none

My husband and I just celebrated both our beautiful patio wedding as well as a reception of 150 of our closest friends and relatives at Monterey Hill. From the early planning right through our great dinner, Kelly and her staff took care of EVERYTHING. Service was great, my guests got their drinks and food right on time and they even have really great places on their outdoor property for family pictures (which we just got back.!) I liked it so much I have since talked my boss into doing our next company event there in march. We'd recommend them to anyone. Pros: Great food and service, also a great enviornment Cons: none

I recently visited Monterey Hill Restaurant to have a formal dinner with the family. Our experience was outstanding. Our Food and drinks were very good and well served. The waiters were very affable and attended us well. The family enjoyed the evening there and so did the kids! The restaurant was very nice, it was a nice environment to be in and the food was great. The service was very good and I enjoyed my evening there. I would strongly recommend dining there. Our evening was very pleasant and we enjoyed everything. I've had events there and they were very successful. I would definitely dine there again anytime! Pros: Very good food, Outstanding service, great location Cons: none

i held my bday party here (~35 ppl) probably back in 1999, and it was such a bad experience i haven't been back since. thought i'd give it another try since it's been so long and i live about 2 min. away, but looks like nothing's improved from the reviews. the service was AWFUL and the food was HORRIBLE. i remember our waitress was a real *itch - i think her name was DAWN. they tried to charge a cake cutting fee per person (not unusual), but didn't mention it when they said it was ok to bring an outside cake. they were super rude about it and wouldn't let us store the cake in the fridge. good thing i lived close by and could drop it off at home. i dunno how they've stayed in biz so long, but i sure hope they'll be replaced soon! i usually don't write bad reviews, but if you can't shape up after 8 years, it's time for the boot! What was great was that, even with a significantly large party, our food was delivered to all of us hot & in a reasonable amount of time. I went to a reception for a 50th wedding anniversary renewing of vows. The place is beautiful. The mini waterfall over rocks, the koi pond. The wooden staircase. The banquet hall we were in was the Grand Ball Room, it was very nice with a terrific view. My cousins made lots of wedding cookies. They were not allowed to bring them in. I could not understand this. If we were sitting down to eat and ordering from a menu I could understand it as bringing in food would hurt their food sales. But this was a banquet and the food was already paid for. The cookies weren't going to hurt their bottom dollar. We had an open bar for $600 dollars. The $600 didn't stretch out to a lot of drinks. I ordered a Malibu Bay Breeze, that wasn't included in the open bar, so I had to order something else. The bartender was slow. The Food: OMG. This food was AWFUL. We would have been better off going to a junky burger stand. The steak with mushrooms was dry. The pork was dry and tasted fishy to me. The shrimp was mush, pure disgusting mush. The salmon was also mushy. The russet potatoes were okay. The Asian salad was ok. The only thing i liked was the bread and the mushrooms. The place was also stuffy warm, needed the AC to be turned up, which my cousin requested and they did up the coldness. But it was still too stuffy warm and I had to step out because it made me feel sick. This place is beautiful, but the food is the worst food, barring fast food, that I have ever eaten. I would recommend anybody wishing to rent this place to avoid it like the plague. Pros: View. Ambience. Cons: Food. Slow Bartender.

My wedding was supposed to be beautiful. Thanks to the staff at Monterey Hill Steakhouse, it was a shameful experience. In the middle of summer, their air conditioner in the banquet room was not on. They failed to fix it for our guests and they made the guests go through literally hell. A thermometer taken by a guest had a temperature of 102 degrees inside the crowded room. The staff was rude and they did not fix it. But lo and behold, we go talk in their office and i feel like i am in the north pole. nice and fresh where their offices are located.
