NBC has changed ownership, even though the American name is still the same, it is actually a branch from Ocean Bo in El Monte. I haven't had Dim Sum here yet, but dinner was pretty good. The desserts weren't as good as the one in El Monte, but it's still good. The prices here are pretty decent too. I haven't had any mishaps here yet.

My family and I absolutely love dim sum. We used to have dim sum over at sam woo but unfortunately it closed down. A few months ago my aunt heard about NBS star so we decided to check it and to our suprise it was pretty close on taste to what Sam Woo was. Well we thought this would be our all time favorite, so last saturday decided to have Dim sum for lunch and we went back to NBC star. I kid you not we had just started ordering when my cousin decided to try a beef one. Well when he put it down on his plate something fell out from the top of it still landing on the edge of his plate, and he kept trying to convince himself that what he saw was anything but what it really was.Luckily the manager of the place was in our area, which by the way was in that private room when my cousin showed him what it was he immeadiately apologized and gave us half off. That is pretty nice of them you would say, but come on we had a creature on our plate. If it would have happend to anyone else a big deal would have been made but my cousin was just disgusted that I guess he didnt really know what to say. Luckily for them no one else saw but his boss. I guess you can say we will definately reconsider this place after that incident.
Pros: great food
Cons: unexpected ingredients

Living an hour and a half outside of LA, it is extremely hard to find any good dim sum close to where we live. We have tried so many outside of the city, but nothing has ever beaten dim sum in Chinatown, but it is much too far to travel down there just for a dim sum craving. We finally settled on a mediocre, but not terrific place for Sunday dim sum quick-fixes.
Luckily one day, we ventured another fifteen minutes closer to LA for some shopping. A friend had recommended NBC to us, which was right down the road from where we were going to. Imagine our surprise when we arrived there at 11 am on a Saturday morning, and there wasn't a line! (rumor has it that there usually is, which is crazy to think as the restaurant is very big) The restaurant was decorated very elegantly, and there were a lot of carts being pushed around. As soon as we were seated, tea was served to us, and water brought immediately after we requested it (and kept up with the refill). We asked for three more cups of hot oil- received a huge cup in less than two minutes! The boxes were brought very quickly, and the check calculated right at the table! The service was absolutely surprisingly amazing, as it is well known that most dim sum places do not have the best service. The price is cheap ($38 for three of us, and we brought back enough leftovers for a dinner!) My favorite dim sum dish is chicken feet, but usually it is made all wrong- NBC makes it all right! The skin came right off the bone and it was well seasoned. Other memorable dishes are also the jellyfish, and the chinese donut wrapped in rice paper.
Best dim sum I've ever had as long as I can remember, hands down! A must for anyone longing for amazing dim sum, attentive service, and affordability!
Pros: fresh hot food, service, price
Cons: carts take awhile to get around because of the size of the restaurant

We have visited NBC on numerous occassions. The prices are good and the dim sum is great. My favorites are the shrimp hargow and the baked barbequed pork buns. It is best to get there before 11:00 on Sundays. After 11:00 the wait can be extremely long, and the dim sum selection along with parking becomes limited.
The servers attitudes can be a bit "Funky" at times, but overall, NBC is a good place to visit.
Pros: Reasonable prices, great dim sum
Cons: parking, wait staff attitudes

Possibly the best place for dim sum in the LA area. We went on the busiest day of the year (Lunar New Year) but still enjoyed quick service and a variety of delicious delicacies. I recommend the duck, the bbq pork buns, the shrimp dumplings, the large rice noodle folded over shrimp or beef, and egg custard tarts for dessert. Everything tastes very fresh and is not too greasy. The prices are also quite good, you can have a very filling meal for under $11 per person.
Pros: Parking, Service
Cons: Crowded on weekends

I LOVE this place!!! I have been coming here for over 20 years...ever since I was a kid. I have brought several non-asian friends to this place and they all love it as well. We have lots of banquet meals and large dinners here for special occasions and one of my close friends wants to have their wedding reception here. It has the best reputation of any dim sum restaurant in Monterey Park, which explains why the wait can be 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours on the weekends and holidays. The shrimp and seaweed wrapped eggrolls and magic rice are among some of our favorites. You can order regular dishes during dim sum hours also and there are lots of regular dishes that are exceptional here! I never say no when it comes to eating at this place...LOL. It's best to go during the weekdays or around 1:30-2pm during the weekends for a much shorter wait. Sometimes service is slow when it's superpacked but that's normal at any restaurant. You can also go in and order to go and have your oder ready in about 15 minutes!

This dim sum restaurant serves low priced food while trying to accomondate the most people. The taste is good, but at peak serving times the wait can be a long time. A great place to experience traditional and new aged chinese dim sum. This place also turns into a banquet for weddings and birthdays for dinner.
Pros: Lot of selection, can speak to you in english, can accommondate large parties
Cons: parking, gets very loud, long waiting time for tables - depending on timing

This is the place to go for great dim sum and authentic Cantonese cuisine. The wait can be really long on weekends for dim sum so if you're not a patient diner then I would go someplace else but man you will miss some pretty good dim sum. The dinner menu is traditional Cantonese served in large portions so this place is really great for large parties of family and friends.
Pros: Good food, big place, dim sum
Cons: Service but what authentic Chinese restaurant doesn't have spotty service?

i have tried lots of Dim Sum restaurant in East LA, and NBC seafood is one of the best in terms of quality/flavor. Their prices are very competitive and the portions are large. In the Ha Kao, the shrimps are huge! Service is pretty decent for a dim sum place. The only drawback is that during week end, it's so busy that the wait can take up to an hour something... so come in early! or not stomack empty.
