I think Tak Shing Hong is the all time favorite of all the Chinese house wives. They have all kinds of traditional Chinese goods, like some medicine, snacks, and electronics imported from mainland China, HongKong and Taiwan. Their vegetable is clean and taste good. The price is ok with the merchants qualities. Part of these market is a large herb shop. Although the price is a little bit higher than the other store, but Tak Shing Hong has very good reputation for selling high quality herbs like ginsengs. The things that I don't like about this store is the parking. It is always crowded in the parking lot.

This is one of the oldest Chinese stores to exist in this area, which sells herbal medicine and other groceries in a large store. It has the smell which can be too strong for those who are not used to it, but the merchandise is truly one of a kind and often cherished by traditional Chinese. They also sell cookware, canned goods, teas, utensils, and other related products.

Tak Shing Hong has two locations: one on garvey and garfield and the other on alhambra and garvey. The garfield/garvey one is larger and has a bigger herbal medicine room which is why it probably smells a bit more. If you're looking for a cure for any illness, just head here because most likely they'll have some chinese herb that will help. If you're not sick, you can also shop around on the other side of the store. They offer foods from China like snacks and candy. They also have a good selection of tableware and cookware. If you're looking for an eclectic gift, you can buy Chinese clothes or shoes here as well.

This unique Asian market, also known as TS Emporium is on the corner of Garfield and Garvey Ave. This little market sells specialty Asian groceries, household items, and another section of the store dedicated to Chinese herbs. I usually come here for their vegetables, because they are very fresh and the price is very cheap compared to other markets in the area. However, they run out of their vegetables real fast.

Here's another relatively well-known store among the locals. Long history of this place, I remember it being here ever since I came to Monterey Park, really. The store seems to import some candies from Asia and such, and is a general herbal store. There's probably a Chinese herbal doctor somewhere inside, too. It's really just a plain Chinese store that's really well-known by the locals, probably due to the fact that there's a 7-Eleven a crosswalk away.

This is the place where you go went you are in need of Chinese stuff. They have all kind of Chinese stuff and they are at a low price. The other thing is that the old store is big and has a lot of stuff that Asian people like. My parents always go there and see what to buy. The downs side is that some time its hard to find a good parking space.

There are two Tak Shing Hong in Monterey Park. This probably the one you should go to, well because they sell stuff cheaper here than the other store down Garvey, near Garfield. It's not very friendly here either, last time I went there after class for some sweet treat. Got there, and they want my to leave my bag. Gee... Anyway, so I just left my bag there. They do offer some stuff that no other place do at a competitive price. But most of the stuff they sell are overpriced. They also sell Chinese herb

this place is a bit more closer to home and has a wealth of herbal remedy products such as salompas. they also have doctors on site who can help you. the place, like many other asian herbal palces, reeks of a herbal medicine smell. you get used to it after a while but if you're a new comer you will definitely not like it. they have plenty of herbal remedies at very low prices.
