The Monterey Copy Center is a block away from both Kinko's and a UPS store. Amazingly enough, they are a lot cheaper than both kinko's and UPS. The service is great. They are very flexible and will adjust to whatever need you may have. They are very fast. If you have anything urgent, they'll do their best to get it done super fast. The quality of their copies is great. I highly recommend going there for all your copying and paper needs.

At what other grocery store can you ask an employee to check for more of an item in the storeroom, and he will do it happily? They did not have any of my beloved Clif ZBars on the shelf one morning, and when I mentioned this to the clerk at checkout, she called another employee over to check for me. Well, they found the last box in the back just for me!
That is just one example of how the employees at this location will go out of their way for you. On top of that, they stock the highest quality foods for a healthful lifesstyle. They do get very busy at lunchtime and right after the workday ends, but if you hit them in the morning or midafternoon, you shouldn't have a problem. Even if you have to go at a busy hour, there is ample parking (something that can't be said for the rest of the shopping center). Overall, a really great place to shop!

For cheap art supplies and educational toys and supplies designed to live up to active play and use. While my first visit (and many of my subsequent visits) have focused on art supplies -- the most recent purchase was a really high-quality nap mat -- 2 inches thick with vinyl cover reinforced with threads guaranteed to last for 5 years for about $17.
The business is primarily a school supply business (as the name suggests) but has lots of fantastic supplies for families too. Grandma loves it at Christmas time (as do we all) because she can buy bulk art supplies and split them between the grandkids and her house for nearly the same price as buying smaller amounts of supplies individually. (i.e. we all get more actual supplies then if we'd bought the supplies in "individual packages" and in general the cost is equivalent to an "individual package" at a craft store. (oh I hope that makes sense). I've also seen toys carried by the likes of Discovery Toys (at prices 2 - 4 x the price charged by Discount School Supply). And shipping is always free on orders $59 and above (easy to do).
The website is www.discountschoolsupply.com they also have do catalog sales.

I had never been to a chiropractor before and frankly was a little scared. My wife convinced me to give it a try but I was pretty skeptical. The office got me right in. Dr. Brunke's examination was very thorough and that made me feel very comfortable. After three visits my low back pain has dramatically reduced and I'm finally sleeping again. He uses a high tech adjusting machine (I can't remember the name..) but it was completely comfortable. If you are like me and you are a little nervous about chiropractic, check out Dr. Brunke's office:)

I had go to this place just for the view though the hot chocolate is the best. One of the best locations for Ghirardelli to be in, This place has a few tables set with an awesome view of the ocean. Start with a free sample of dark chocolate as soon as you enter and order fudge or Hot chocolate, Its an amazing experience. Really crowded during teh holidays but a place to visit nevertheless. Its a great experience. The staff is friendly and nothing seems really overpriced. The View from outside is simply mind blowing.

The Cutting Center is a great hair place.
The cuts are very affordable, but the quality is superior. The owners are very very friendly and super competent and skilled. I had a great experience when I got my hair cut there. I would go back there anytime. For the same price we would pay at cost cutters or great clips, you get to support a local business and get a great quality hair-cut!

If your looking for a Dr. who you can talk to about anything and feels like family, this is your guy. Compassionate, gentle, respectful and caring - but talks straight. After 12 long years of infertility and dozens of Dr's across the US, this is the one that finally gave me my beautiful daughter. He gives YOUR case his full attention and all of his experience. Highly recommended.

This preschool has an atmosphere like a child's fantasyland. It's where you would have loved to go as a child - and it's been around so long some of you may have. Amazing staff, great full educational program, hands on learning. Computers, reading, writing, basic social skills, etc. - even for the part time attendee's. I can only afford to send my child there 2 days a week, but after only a few months she's already about a year ahead of her age group of playmates that attend full time elsewhere. Perhaps I'll get a second job to send her full time, it would be worth my time for the huge advantage she'll receive by this excellent source of early education.

More
Fresh Cream is a great place to go if you are celebrating something or looking for a place to make an evening special. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is very upscale and the views of the ocean are spectacular. When you make your reservation (don't even think about showing up without one!), be sure to ask for a table by the window. You'll regret it if you don't! The prices are a bit steep, but nothing higher than what you might expect from a restaurant like this one. The food is classically French, presented beautifully and never disappoints in terms of taste. Fresh Cream is not the type of place you eat at everyday (unless you are Bill Gates, perhaps), but it is certainly worth it to splurge on a celebration here every once in a while!

More
We recently made a trip to Monterey, to do the usual fun stuff- see the Monterey Bay Aquarium, whale watch shop etc. For our jumping off point we stayed at the Best Western Beach Resort.
Let me start off by saying that this is the only hotel with beachfront property. On that side of the hotel, the view is gorgeous. If you love the beach, like I do, it is worth the extra money to stay on that side. When I booked the room online, I was dubious of the view, and opted for a non-view room. I was pleasantly given an upgrade upon my arrival. I could not tell you why, as I did not ask for it. I did not have to pay the extra premium for the room. Having never had stayed at a Best Western before, I was quite pleased.
The lobby is very nicely decorated. If I had to give it a style I would call it kind of a Spanish- casual California style. Handsome chairs with dark wood, tile floors, and a magnificent view of the beach. Since the lobby is on the second level, it is possible to sit next to the fireplace and see the beautiful surf ebb and flow on the beach. Here you can also have evening beverages. Staff is pleasant and eager to help make your stay a memorable one.
The room we stayed in was on the first floor, facing the beach. The neat thing about this room, is that there are wooden platforms built in front of the rooms, interspersed with sand and sand-loving plants. There is a necessary retaining wall between the beach and the platforms. I would imagine these are here to save you from some large waves, which no doubt can appear at your doorstep in large storms. The hotel is also next to a public beach, which is kind of fun. Since we visited in the spring, there was no one in the water that was not screaming. The Pacific is way too cold even for casual wading. With an air temperature of 52 F, you can see why it would be a bad idea. However, in the warmer times, this may be a nice place to paddle around. At night, it is possible to get firewood from the hotel, and dig a nice fire-pit to enjoy the waves by. Several fires were present the first night of our stay.
The room itself was a basic room, 2 queen beds. There was a small table and a decent sized tv. The bathroom was composed of an open shower bay and a toilet. The sinks were outside the door. I found that to be a little crowded, but I do not generally hangout in the bathroom enough to make that an issue. There was a small fridge, coffee pot and hair dryer. The best part was the toiletries- generally I could care less, as I bring my own, but the hotel uses the Proterra line, which I find to be particularly fragrant. I loved it.
The beds were comfy, pillows perky and best of all, the bed featured giant feather comforters. I left the small window open all night, just so I could relish the chilly morning under that comforter. ( By the way, this small window being open should be explained-it isn’t a window you can see through, but a small vented opening below the big glass window- this way you can sleep securely with it open, and hear the waves crashing all night long.)
Overall- service was great, price was reasonable and I slept like a baby! We will make this our new Monterey digs.
