The food was some fo the best I have ever eaten!!!! This was the first place I had ever been where you orderd a steak and they brought out several cuts for you to choose form!!! Talk about drooling!!! I was in heaven!
It was cooked to perfection and was so tender it almost cut its self ! We had a great romantic evening, It was not crowded, and the dress was casual for others coming in, I felt out of place wearing a suit...
The only draw back was the bar, too many foul mouth drunks being loud. the good thing was the manager tried his best to keep them quiet.
Pros: Great service and atmosphere
Cons: too many loud people at the bar

The prime beef is cooked to perfection...tender, with real back east taste, not bland like western beef. I asked the waiter for A1 sauce, but never used it...the beef tenderloin was that good. The service was there on the spot, but never intrusive. Ambiance was good...nice and quiet, but the decor was nothing special. The prices were outrageous, but worth it every so often on special occasions. Bottom line...John Pisto has done it again.
Pros: Great steak, John Pisto service
Cons: Price

Considering it was a spontaneous decision to eat at Whaling Station, it was undoubtedly one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The prices are a high-ish but worth every last cent. You definitely get your money's worth in every sense. For those like me who cannot part with their inner carnivore, the red meat selections are prime and taste incredible. The seafood is just as wonderful and they have great selections for vegetarians as well. The service is impeccable and not snooty or condescending in any way. I highly recommend a stop into Whaling Station when in Monterey ..... don't forget to call ahead!
Pros: Great service, Wonderful atmosphere, A carnivore's dream
