I love the seafood and the setting at the Fisherman's Grotto makes it more enticing to eat. I have eaten here twice with my family and best friend. We were visiting my best friend at Salinas and decided to go to Monterey for a quick tour and spend quality time with our families This place is great! It is a bit pricey, but well worth the money paid for the quality of food and service provided.

We were visiting Monterey and went to this restaurant for the first time. It was amazing. The halibut is unbelievable, easily the most tender and best sauce ever anywhere. Pairing with sweet potatoes is genius. They have great wine at decent prices also. We had the VIP card from our hotel and received an excellent calamari and egglplant appetizer. Everything was delicious. The atmosphere is romantic, they have tables overlooking the water. There are candles on each table and they handed out single roses to the women customers. The service was outstanding, very attentive without being annoying or overbearing in any way. We would definitely come back here when visiting Monterey again. Pros: Food, prices, service, ambience, everything! Cons: none

On my first visit to monterey a friend and I chose to eat here based on some of the reviews and we were very pleased. The owner stands outside with samples of clam chowder and is very polite and welcoming and so are the staff. The food is delicious (probably the best clam chowder i've had). I highly recommend this place! Pros: Excellent service, great food, great scenery.

I was recommended to Old Fisherman's Grotto by my hotel. I didn't want formal dining, just really good seafood. This was just the place! The owner Chris was standing out front, passing out samples of clam chowder (which I give a perfect 10!) He was very gracious. The staff was very pro, and the food fantastic! My hotel sent me a Calamari appetizer (I had a VIP card), and I've never had better. Nice "local" feel for a restaurant in the middle of Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf! Pros: Owner and Staff, The Food, The Service
