A real treat in Monterey! Great pizza and fantastic ambience. You can meet pro golfers from the AT&T and even a past U.S President. A sports bar in the back and all the Italian specials you could want. A really special place for relaxed dining.

We sat a table overlooking Monterey Bay. The food was great for old and young alike. My young teenage niece and nephew loved the Fish and Chips, while we enjoyed fish and steak. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Paradiso has more of a "regulars" feeling than the typical "tourist" restaurant you'd expect in this area. I recommend it over the other "Warf" seafood restaurants.
Pros: Great Location, Great Food, Great View
Cons: If you are in a hurry, I recommend a different restaurant. This is one to enjoy.

Just returned to cloudy, crappy Columbus Ohio after a five day stay in Monterey. We tried all the chowder along the wharf, and chose Isabellas. It was fantastic. We ate there 4 out of 5 nights. Their chowder is unparalleled, as was the crab sandwich, and, frankly, everything.
We sat upstairs on the outside patio and had a beautiful view of the bay and the wildlife. There is a float out there where the sea lions bask, and you can watch them from your table. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone who is heading to Monterey. The drinks are overpriced, but then again, where aren't the drinks overpriced. The food was delicious and fairly priced.
If you go, promise me you'll get the chowder... I miss it already. Yum!

Growing up in a small town, I cant help but fall in love with little, independently owned restaurants. I moved here in 2006 for some job training, and my wife and I eat here whenever we're in the mood for a little date. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is excellent, and the food is outstanding. I have to say the calamari is outstanding, and the portion sizes are massive, so plan on taking some home! It's charmingly small and impressively personal! You'll find the atmosphere makes it incredibly easy to focus on one another, easy going and quiet with no distractions, candlelight on some tables, and peaceful music floating in the air. I've not had any problems with the service or food in Caruso's. Of course I leave you with one small piece of advice... don't go there and order the spaghetti and meatballs, it may be the cheapest thing on the menu but in the end you're just denying yourself the dining experience of a lifetime by creeping back to something familiar. Try something new! You'll not regret it!
Pros: I've never tasted such delicious alfredo in my life!
Cons: You might feel the food in your stomach, as well as your wallet. Traditional Italian Restaurant Prices do apply.

We were greeted with an enthusiastic smile and promptly escorted to our table. We brought our own special bottle of wine (our son is a Napa Valley wine maker) and they brought two glasses without question or hesitation. During our travels in Italy I developed a fondness for ravioli, so I ordered the Ravioli and Shrimp ($14) and my wife (she’s Italian) ordered the Pasta and Shrimp ($11). She requested different pasta than normally served with this dish which was substituted without question (or charge).
The entrees were well presented and excellent. Very flavorful, reminding us of our trips to Southern Italy and the wonderful cuisine found along the Amalfi Coast. We took our time enjoying every delicious bite along with the wine our son had blended especially for us. What a wonderful evening!
Both of our servers were young and very pleasant, sharing the experiences they encountered while `coming to America’. After dinner they offered us complimentary deserts of our choice and we shared a glass of port. Though we arrived rather late and stayed much later, we were never rushed and were encouraged to just relax and enjoy.
It was a fabulous, romantic evening! I would not hesitate to return to the Loose Noodle again and again. - Ciao!
Pros: Good Food, Reasonable Prices, Friendly Staff
Cons: No Outdoor Seating

I got the stuffed calamari (calamari stuffed with sausage and pine nuts) and it was delicious. The clam chowder is also good, but if you're going to this fancy restaurant, order something more unique.

Pino's Cafe has some of the best gelato I've had. I've been to Italy may times and Pino's Gelato rivals anything in Italy. The owner makes it and told me he imports all his ingredients (except the milk) from Italy. He is a third generation gelateria owner and is very proud of his product. Everytime I'm in Monterey, I go and have Gelato at Pino's- even if I have to wait in line. Some of the best!
Pros: great location, great ambiance, dog friendly
Cons: can be very busy

Great location! We go here EVERY year when we visit Monterey for the Historics and other race weekends at Laguna Seca. They have a great deal fixed price menu - 3 courses for $23 I think - until 7pm. We've been coming here for 3 years now - probably around 6 different occassions. Food is always good; good quality and its always hot (I hate being served cold food). But the service is the worse I have ever seen! Last time we were there; we asked a passing waitress if we could order a drink (we'd been there 20 minutes already) and she told us our server would be with us - eventually! She then sat down at a table near us with patrons and carried on a conversation! Clearly she was far too good to be working there (yeah right). If it weren't for the quality of the food and the location we'd give it a wide berth....
Pros: Good Food
Cons: Terrible service

The Peninsula Restaurant in the Hyatt Regency is simply wonderful. The food is good, the atmosphere is great and sometimes they even have live music. Though I'm sure the regulars know about it, I definately recommend that other locals give it a try.
