The Wing Chong building and the doc's old house up the street (from Steinbecks Cannery Row book) made the trip worthwhile..

This aquariumn has so much to see. I love watching the otters swim around. You have to give this place hours to see all that there is. The white shark is pretty cool to see up close.

located in historic Cannery Row down in Monterey. This huge and modern zoo is amazing. Im not a huge aquarium fan, but this had a nice mixture of plants, fish and education. Parking is a hassel, have to park a ways away and walk. Its in a tourist area, so have to pay. Not that cheap to get in either. The kelp forest and jellyfish exhibits are amazing. Its all well done. Most of the exhibits are geared towards local life, which may disappoint some who are looking for tropical things and such. Big enough to make it worth while for the drive down here.

This is a great aquarium. It ranks up there with the one in Baltimore and maybe one other. What makes Monterey Bay so great is that they don't just display a variety of sea creatures but they also talk about them, try to teach you more about the habitats, and lucky for the people that live in the area they show the very rich and diverse ecosystem of Monterey Bay. I was lucky enough to see the great white shark they had in captivity and I'll never forget how she glided through the water. Good reason the line goes around the building sometimes. It can be expensive without coupons though.
PROS: Amazing variety of fish and plantlife
CONS: Can be expensive

I was not initially stoked to visit this aquarium, having spent ample time in aquariums on the east coast and figured this place to be a display of the more bland variety. Then they obtained the Great White Shark. My boyfriend needed to see it, and I was convinced to go. Gladly so.
This is a beautiful aquarium with wonderful marine habitats and a plethora of information and opportunities to learn about the marine environment. Cover all aspects of marine life and educating about how to protect it at the same time. Defintately a great place to visit (and last time I checked had a AAA discount!)
PROS:
CONS: No parking lot... have to complete with all other Monterey traffic
