I went to Just Jake's for dinner, and it was a good experience. The menu was limited but the food was very good. My order was wrong the first time it came out but the waiter was very nice and fixed it promptly. They had a full bar with a knowledgeable bartender. Other than that the only complaint was that it seemed a little low key. Just Jake's advertizes as a fun and energetic atmosphere but it was dead when I was there. To be fair they are also known to have bands playing on most nights but there weren't any when I was there, so that might explain the lack of excitement. If you go, call or check the list posted outside of the establishment for times when bands are playing. Several friends have said that it's more fun that way.

Just Jake's is Montclair's only place to get a good cold beer, and enjoy live entertainment Thursday thru Saturday. The bar staff are extremely friendly, and the beer selection is good. They do have a non-smoking room in the back where they serve a full dinner, or you can eat at the bar. Food ranges from average to very good. The crowd tends to be in the 21-28 range- you'll find lots of people from Montclair State University, and plenty of teachers from the schools nearby out for an after-work drink (or two).
