As a professional musician I have played countless weddings. Some of them have been very high-end events. As a result I have eaten a lot of wedding cakes, but, I can tell you that nothing compares to the Tallant House cake that we had at our own wedding last Sept. Judy helped us pick out layers and flavors to match our Latin theme. She did an AMAZING job. We were blown away at the quality and taste of this cake. It was also delivered on time and presented beautifully! Even a year later our family and friends will not stop talking about the cake!! My mother who is a foodie and a baker and who is very opinionated about food is requesting another cake for our family reunion. Thanks again Judy for helping us make our wedding a memorable one!! Judy provided a fantastic cake for our daughter's wedding last August; everyone raved and declared it the best ever! She was very accommodating in the ingredients and decorating, using the best of the local produce. Since it was outdoors, she was also meticulous in assuring nothing spoiled in the heat. It was delivered and assembled with perfect timing. We were choosing for others, so there were many e-mails back and forth before the final choices. She was responsive and helpful in her suggestions of ingredients and how to combine them. She was also generous in the tasting samples given while we were deciding, which was very helpful.

After sampling lots of cake from many different vendors at a wedding expo, Tallant House won me over, hands down!! It was the only cake that offered the sweet richness we were looking for, yet didn't weigh you down. The fruit compote added a freshness that couldn't be beat. Working with Judy was also very enjoyable and all the choices available for flavor combination were marvelous. The hardest part was making a decision. Our cake arrived at our wedding location on time, looked and tasted wonderful!! The one complaint we received from guests was that there wasn't enough cake.

Judy created our wedding cake and the tastes were phenomenal. She delivered, set up was simple, and everyone who tasted it raved. I will also say meeting with her in person, while at first a little intimidating, turned out to be fun and VERY educational! Her cakes are SO unique, the flavors are of the highest caliber. You may not end up with the fanciest frilliest cake- but it's not going to taste like cardboard either! YUM YUM YUM! Thank you Judy!

She picked out a bunch of flavors for us to try, based on our preferences, and helped us come up with some great combination for our cakes (like apricot & pistachio). Judy Tallant is amazing! Not only is she a fun person to have involved in the process of planning a wedding, but her creations are absolutely divine! We did a few tastings of local bakeries, Tallant House being the final one. As soon as we left her kitchen and got in the car, we both announced that she was, by far, the winner! Not a doubt about it. She kept in close contact with us throughout the next few months, making sure everything looked just as we envisioned. She was flexible with her delivery times and her pricing couldn't be beat! She offered reassurance and a sense of humor during the last few weeks... which was unexpected and so awesome! If wowing your guests with a cake that not only looks good but tastes even better is what you're looking for, then you found it with Tallant House. Our family and friends raved for months about our cake! She also includes an anniversary cake... A fresh topper of your wedding cake on your anniversary, instead of the traditional freeze and thaw method! We received ours last night and it was just as amazing as the original. Yum!

I special ordered a cake from Judy for my daughter's birthday. It was to look like a ladybug. We emailed back and forth many times to get all the details worked out. I asked for a chocolate cake with strawberry filling and raspberry glaze. We picked it up on the day of the party and it was cute. When I cut into it I noticed that the filling was not a typical strawberry filling, but more like a gelatinous mousse (not creamy but stiff). I really didn't think anything of it until all our guests started bringing me back their plates and saying they did not like the texture of the filling. I didn't have one guest (even the children) who finished their slice of cake. I was very unimpressed. I am embarrassed to have paid that much for a birthday cake that no one liked.

Since there isn't a way to edit my review, I just want to retract one statement I made in my previous review... The cake delivered to our wedding, although extremely unattractive in appearance, did not look like something a dog had chewed up and spit out. This comment was made in extreme frustration. The cake itself did in fact taste very good, despite its appearance and despite it being 2 hours late (which is inexcusible in my opinion). Judy did attempt to work within our dietary restrictions, and she is the only pastry chef in the area who can cater to such needs as gluten free and dairy free wedding cakes. And I have no doubt that she has had many past successes, otherwise we would not have continued working with her.
