They've got the teppan grill here and a regular restaurant side depending on what you want. The teppan area is nice, but they often do the same tricks. The chefs are very nice and entertaining though, so that's a plus. The restaurant area is a great place to relax and eat with the family, but it is a bit on the expensive side. However, the atmosphere is great, and the food isn't bad either!

We have gone here many times and the experience has always been positive. The food is great and the service is as well. The front staff doesn't always know the best english but then again you are going to a Japanese restaurant. Occasionally you will get a new chef so he is paying attention to the tricks more than the food but it still tastes good and 9 out of 10 times that we have been there it has been excellent. I had a lemon drop martini for the first time there and it was pretty good. Great food, good prices, decent drinks.
Pros: Shrimp appetizer
Cons: They only have Japanese beer, DUH!

Located at the shopping center on the corner of Muirlands and Alicia, Shogun Restaurant has been around for quite some time. The service is great and the hostesses are very friendly. If you want sushi or a personal chef you can have either. Or if you would prefer to sit at the bar with some clients you can do that as well. Overall the interior design gives off a relaxed mood and you can book large parties or small. Give it a try sometime if you're in the area and make sure to try the tempura. Enjoy

Don't get me wrong, the food and the prices are great. Typically you are seated promptly in either the sushi bar or the teppan room. However, I suggest getting a reservation on weekend evenings. The teppan room is a bit tacky and the place is a bit run down. The most irritating part of the experience is the service staff. They don't speak english and often don't understand it either. They come off as curt and a bit brash and usually cannot be found when needed. But like I said, the food is great and you can't beat the prices.
Pros: Prices
Cons: Service staff

I love the Tepan room and sitting around the stove with a buch of people! If you're there with 12 people or just 2, the experience is great. I love how the cooks have fun with cooking my meal and making volcano's out of sliced onions or flicking a shrimp tail into their hat brims!
The cost is a little pricey, but you get a show too. I love the fillet and scallops and the shrimp appetizer.
The only bad thing is walking out of there smelling like the food you ate. =) ENJOY!

Wonderful Sushi bar ... friendly chefs, traditional and unique sushi rolls and maki ... always excellent. And the value is good - they often have 2 for 1 specials early in the evening. The Sushi bar seats about 20 people, so you can usually get a spot. We started going here because it was close to our house - but soon realized it was also some of the best sushi in South OC.
Then, on a whim, we decided to try the teppan tables (think Benihana). Oh my goodness - what a treat! I used to go to Benihana for the show, and figured the food was just a means to the end. But at Shogun the FOOD is the show! Don't misunderstand - the Teppan chefs are skilled artists and will entertain you ... but the food is truly outstanding! We've had the steak and shrimp, and both were delicious - tender and flavorful. And the accompanying vegetables were terrific (and I'm not a big veggie fan.) The prices are also reasonable for what you get.
Oh, lest I forget, they have a nice variety of sake too. I prefer cold sake, and I've never been disappointed at Shogun.
Enjoy!
Pros: Food and ambience
Cons: none!
