It was a Friday afternoon and they were slow so it doesn't explain the near complete lack of service. It was only after we sat down on the outside patio that we were told happy hour specials couldn't be served outside. Not sure what kind of sense that makes, but then we sat inside the empty restaurant/bar for 20 minutes before anyone bothered to acknowledge us. The food was greasy and tasteless. The margaritas were watered-down even more than happy hour margaritas at other places. After waiting an eternity for the check, the waiter made eye contact and walked away to the other side of an empty room. We had to walk to the front and ask the hostess to take care of our bill, which she did, reluctantly while chit-chatting with another hostess. The only reason anyone ever goes here is apparently Taco Tuesday but I'm sure it's not worth the effort.

Though I miss the old Laguna Beach location of Tortilla Flats, driving to the Mission Viejo location is not that bad. You can get all the staples here! Its a great spot to bring a large group and the service is good. Expect to pay between $8 and $14 for a plate, which is a good deal for good food.

Their Tuesday happy hour of chicken/beef tacos for $1.00 are fantastic! Even if I don't go for happy hour, I have those crispy chicken tacos with rice and beans and I am in HEAVEN! They are fabulous. Prices are VERY reasonable! The restaurant is located on Lake Mission Viejo and you have splendid views from the outdoor patio and indoor patio seating areas. Great place to have a wedding or any party really! I can't wait to go back!
