Aside from being completely ignored, served cold coffee and Ahi Tuna that resembled cheap lunch meat from package, the ambient temperature was nice. I'm serious; I really could not believe how bad the service was. I was physically biting my tongue since my wife and I were out to dinner with a dear friend and his new gal pal, I was really trying to hold it together to not ruin the evening, except for that was out of my control. I politely paid the bill, tipped begrudgingly and walked to the nearest hole in the wall where I was served like a king for nearly a tenth of the price.

No doubt the seafood is fresh but after the entire experience, Mccormick & Schmick's leaves much to be desired. I mistakenly ordered Ahi Tuna which I thought was going to be more a tuna steak. Instead, it was slices of tuna over seasoned with black pepper which spoiled the flavor. We also ordered king crab which was very good; obviously very fresh. Service was okay; the staff are very nice but the food came out at a crawling pace. If I spend 2 hours for dinner, I expect a 5 course meal at an even pace rather than a slow 3 course meal.
On a positive note, I truly enjoyed the crab cakes. They are fabulous. The tartar sauce and coleslaw perfectly complimented the crab cakes. I wouldn't mind going back to order the crab cake alone
Pros: Excellent Crab cakes, Heated parking garage
Cons: Service slow, layout is really odd

This place has the BEST happy hour for food in town. If I remember correctly, drinks are spendy but one can get a 1/2 lb pepperjack burger with fries for around $1.50. All of the choices are fantastic and don't get above a couple dollars. It's busy and fairly difficult to find a table in the bar area.

Food was decent the broiled salmon, but the asian cocktail server was just rude and hideous. She had the most annoying voice, bad attitude, and bad hygiene. I don't believe they would let such a wreck be on the floor and serving food. Sadly I lost my appetite before I could order.
Pros: Fresh seafood and good happy hour
Cons: Horrible cocktail server, bad hygiene, bad attitude, annoying voice.

With a great menu selection of fresh fish at a premium price, we were disappointed that the service, quality and presentation did not meet our expectations. We dined on shrimp appetizers that were overcooded, fresh fish entreees that were overcooked, overbuttered and underwhelming. The server was nice and attentive. Maybe it was just a bad night. The ambiance is very nice and is very comfortable.

Had reservations for 6 last night (Tuesday). We were seated promptly in a cozy, private alcove. When my mom made reservations, she told them it was my father's birthday, so they specially printed the menus for our table with a happy birthday message on them. The service was awesome from start to finish, by both the server and an assistant. As an example, my brother dropped his napkin on the floor twice, and both times the assistant stopped by and picked it up and replaced it with a fresh napkin. We ordered 3 courses (salad/soup, main course and dessert) and all were served with reasonable timing, and all hot. No complaints about any of the food. I started with a delicious beet and goat cheese salad. The salmon are running, so that was featured widely on their specials. I had a salmon saute with mushrooms and asparagus in a garlic cream sauce. It was EXCELLENT. And a chocolate pudding pie for dessert, which was dense and chocolately. I view this as a fairly high priced restaurant, so we usually only eat there on special occasions (at least once a year on my dad's birthday as he is a seafood fanatic), and we have never been dissapointed.
Pros: Fabulous food and service
Cons: tables by the kitchen are a little loud

We had a reservation on saturday night. Many people were waiting for tables and there was nowhere to sit at the bar to wait in comfort. After over an hour, we finally got a table. The service was very slow. It was a very long, drawn out meal because of the slow service. We were constantly waiting forever for our waiter to get back to our table. I thought the fish was great, but I don't think I'll go back to try it again. I spoke with the management about it, and they apologized but did not make it up to me in any way. I asked if it was this busy every saturday and they said it was. Well, if they're so busy that they make people wait 1 hour for a table every weekend, maybe they shouldn't take so many reservations.
Pros: Food
Cons: Service

We loved it...........went out for a evening together and had a great time. Service and food was outstanding and would recommend it to everyone. While we where there we saw the $1.95 happy hour appetizers that looked more like dinner than apps. There was a private group happening in a seperate room and we enjoyed our own time at our table with out being disturbed. The server was awsome and the new drink menu was outstanding. We saved some room for the dessert and were not disppointed...I was told they have their own baker making the desserts daily...what a rarity in today's world!
Fresh seafood, from scratch cocktails, and great service......how can you go wrong!
Pros: Delicious Fresh Seafood
Cons: none

Four of us went for a Christmas season dinner to enjoy some conversation and good seafood. This was our third visit to M & S, and we were quite happy with almost everything. The best thing on the table was the beet salad - a phenomenal salad, closely followed by a awesome bowl of clam chowder, and the scallop/risotto appetizer. Entrees we shared were the 1 1/4 # lobster - cooked just right, and the lobster/filet combo plate - both were just right, the filet melted in yor mouth. The stuffed salmon selection was simply wonderful. The least satisfying entre was the proscuitto-wrapped scallop dish. The sauce was nice and spicy as advertized, but the prosciutto and sauce were too salty and overpowered the flavor of the scallops - bummer.
Our waiter was great, he recommended a nice bottle of wine, and the desserts were good but not exceptional. We'll be back, and can recommend M&S to friends and other diners looking for good seafood downtown Minneapolis.
Did I mention the $2 appetizers on the happy hour menu - and not your regular bar food snacks, either!
Pros: seafood, happy hour prices, wait staff
Cons: desserts are average
