Chino Latino - What an experience! I visited this restaurant recently with a large group of work colleagues and we all had a great time. We began the evening with drinks at the bar. I started off with a margarita - and it was a VERY strong margarita!! There is a lengthy list of specialty drinks and the bar appeared to be well stocked with many types of beer and liquor. One thing interesting about this restaurant is the running 'theme' - and by that I mean that everywhere you look there is a double meaning or crude reference. Whether it be the waiter's t-shirts or the names of drinks or the dessert menu, it's hard to miss. I thought it was kind of funny, but it could offend as well so be careful about that. The food is all over the board as far as what type of food it is. But I would say that it leans towards asian/mexican. There are noodle dishes, there are seafood dishes, there is spicy food and not so spicy food (nothing is really bland, though). There is also meat on a stick, served similar to the way it would be served at a brazilian steakhouse where the chef brings it on a stick and cuts it at the table for you. The food is served family style so that you can order a couple of dishes and share with everyone. This prices seemed a little high, so a visit to this restaurant would likely be more of a treat than a regular visit, but it is definitely an experience! I probably wouldn't have been able to try as much as I did if I had to pay for it myself. :) Also, Chino Latino is in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis which is kind of the trendy area where there is a lot of nightlife.

Chino Latino, a restaurant in uptown Minneapolis, has amazing food. This restaurant is certainly trendy and is the type of restaurant where you dress to be seen. The bar is modern and beautiful. It is packed with people on Friday and Saturday nights especially, so don't plan on sitting or getting served immediately. Reservations are accepted for dinner though. The food is family style; you order large servings of food such as Jerk Chicken. The Jerk Chicken is my favorite :) All the food is excellent, as are the fruity cocktails (one will get you quite happy) and the towering desserts. The Smores (complete with your own "fire") is one of my favs. This restaurant has lasted and will last.

Chino is known for their wonderful muscles (the men too). If you hop from place to place looking for yummy muscles... put Chino on your list. Their Asian/coconut/butter sauce comes with rice rather than the traditional bread for dipping. You get a very generous portion to share. I often times order it to go and use it as a side dish with the rice at my own parties. Other all time favorites at Chino - the community table for hosting parties - PooPoo Platers (yes folks, there really is such a thing as a PooPoo Plater - it is an assortment of yummy appetizers on a lazy susan with fire coming out of the middle for roasting pineapple). I also love their Smore platter. Late night people watching and mingling is at it's best at Chino!

This place is fun and fabulous--a definite must try for anyone living in the twin cities. Be prepared for the young crowd and long waits, but it's definitely worth it. The eclectic menu changes regularly, but there has always been beef, chicken and seafood when I've been there. Their drink menu is also amazing! You can get a tropical drink in a real coconut, or pick a "martini" from their extensive "martini menu." Keep in mind that the martinis listed are only fancy drinks served in martini glasses. The beverages aren't cheap, so try to hit their happy hour to take a little off the bill. The decor is also spectacular. Don't miss it!

Chino Latino is a fun restaurant. They have a great happy hour but you need to get there early to get a table. The happy hour consists of wines and appetizers for only $2. I ate dinner there once and it was also very good. The best part of Chino is people watching and the atmosphere is great. Go there for the happy hour and stay to people-watch.

Billed as "street food from the hot zones" Chino Latino is a hybrid of Latin and Asian food served on platters as entries and sides to be shared between couples or parties. The best dining experiences are either groups who order multiple plates of skewers of varying grilled meats and diversely satayed vegetables or couples who want to share a special night and their plates. Selection from the menu include: Sumatra Spicy Shrimp, Javanese Chile Chicken Satay, Coconut Shimp Curry, Sushi Loco, Tio Pepe's Tacos, Bali Hai Whole Chile Crab, and Pisang Goreng (fried banana dessert) From 4:30 to 7:00 each day they run a $2 Hot Zone Happy Hour special on beer, wine and bloody Mary's. After 10:30pm Sunday thru Thursday they have $2 breakfast specials and the same drink specials. Be prepared to encounter long waits for tables and attitude from the wait-staff. Entries $15-$25
