I went to Joe's Garage with my girlfriend Mary last week. We were thoroughly impressed with the atmosphere and food. We asked the waitress to keep our entree's greasy (so that they would go down easy) and she happily obliged. Later in the evening we met our friend Sy, and although he loved the food, he had an adverse reaction to a glass of lemonade. In all I would recommend Joe's Garage. You'll love it...it's a way of life!

Great service and employees. The food was hearty and unique- Not just another burger joint! Very classy-a great place to start a night out or for a special evening.

I've only been here to eat, and mostly for the express purpose of sitting on the roof. It's great up there! I generally haven't had anything besides burgers (which are pretty good!), but everyone I've been there with has been happy with their food. I plan to go back to try some of the mashed potato dishes. They look very intriguing! Take two scoops of mashed potatoes, and start adding!
I do prefer the roof to the inside seating, but that's just a matter of personal preference, and I generally only go there during the summer months!

Joe's is a wonderful hangout! Their rooftop in the summer is out of this world. They will even let you rent out the place and have a big party if you like - wonderful service, great appetizers. I used the rooftop as a celebration location after putting on a play at the Woman's Club. Interesting menu choices. Great people watching, nice location off of Loring Park.

Joe's Garage used to be one of my favorite places to go. In the last year the food quality and service has been horrible. I just went there for brunch and the menu was quite limited. Even at noon they don't offer an expanded menu. I was dissapointed and so were the many people at surrounding tables that were asking for a real menu. The food was just that. Food. Nothing spectacular. The service was ok at best. They screwed up the order of the table next to us and took so long to bring out a replacement meal that the rest of the table was done when that person got served.
Skip this place until they can get it together again.

Joe’s garage is a great little bar and grill. I love the hamburgers there, they are pretty big and taste so good, they smell great as you arrive you can smell them cooking on the grill. There are table on 2 floors and outside on the roof top. There is lots of room and is a nice place to go as a single person, a couple or a family.

Joe Kaplan is one of the hardest working chefs in downtown Minneapolis. We used to go to Joe's to google the magnificent thighs of the feisity waitress/comedienne Colleen Kruse who could just as easily dish out as receive but she has gone onto bigger venues. After expanding his bar when taking over an abandoned street-level Starbucks, Joe added dinner cabaret/theater improv and live music to his already brisk rooftop business with spectacular views of downtown and the Basillica of St. Mary's. But Joe's menu is focused and restrained to exotic burgers like the recommended Asian Pork burger and tender lamb burger. You will also find well-made salads and pastas with chicken, salmon and veggies. Joe's family-style Sunday fixed brunch is over the top with a selection of meats, tasty herb potatoes, egg scramble and bread that never stops coming as long as you like. If you choose not to over-eat, you can order eggs benedict and other breakfast entries that arrive just once.

I have been to Joe's garage several times, and it's always been a great experience! The appetizers are amazing--I highly recommend the spinach artichoke dip. In addition, the entrees are diverse, ecclectic and all-appealing. Their mashed potatoes are amazing, and so is the falafel burger.
In addition, the setting is perfect. Loring Park is artsy and gorgeous, and the lighting and art on the walls is a perfect complement to the creative setting. I've always had great service at Joe's, and I wouldn't hesitate to return!
