My husband ordered the Guinness Pot Roast last time we went, and I, along with our friends, had serious food envy the whole meal. It was just to die for. We ended up waiting a lot longer than the 15 minutes we were told when we walked in, but what can you expect on a Friday night? The beer was cold, and the server didn't even bat an eye when we adjourned to the sofa after finishing our meal. It was a great dinner out!

Brit's Pub in downtown Minneapolis is a great place to hang out and get some traditional british food. The decor is comfy and warm. There are often events going on, like movie nights. They have a side room (with a bar as well) that often plays home to these special events. The appetizers here rock! Especially the eggs and the spinach dip; some of the best I've had. The BEST feature about this restaurant is their large outdoor rooftop patio, which also has lawn bowling! Though I've yet to try it, it always looks fun. Get there early on a warm summer afternoon; the place fills up fast.

Brit's is exactly what I picture a British pub to be. The food has names like Bangers & Mash and Fish & Chips. The walls and windows advertise Ale. The Flags of Great Britain dot the outside patio (well except when Target takes over).
Whether it be lunch or happy hour Brit's is THE spot in that part of downtown.
I was there again the other day and had the new crispy chicken wrap.. the time before I had the chicken tandoori... both are newer items on the menu and are excellent choices... and the fries are even good re-heated the next day.
As for the drinks... I have had the long island iced tea and recommend, I also know they have a lemonade with alcohol that is very popular.

I've never actually eaten the food at Brits - I mean come on, it's Brittish food. But Brits is one of the most fun places in the city, to just hang out & enjoy a pint with friends.
During the summer, it's all about the second level, which in addition to lawn bowling (yeah!) offers great views of downtown, a super fun, young crowd, and a beautiful breezy patio.
Also, in August there are movies up on the roof (2nd level), every Thursday (?) night. They show films that are either Brittish, or have something to do with England - like Love Actually, Harry Potter & Notting Hill. Nothing is more fun than enjoying a late summer evening, with a pint of beer & your friends, hanging out at Brits

As it were, I attended grad school in UK, I sometimes get nostalghic for the trappings of a civilized society based on genteel manners and the values distilled from empire as Tony Blair will once again rule upon her majesty's kingdom -- NOT! Bloody wets!
Yet, Brits Pub does satisfy a certain resurfacing itch, especially around the time of the World Cup, when you will find the current wave of British invasion who are working for the yankee dollar huddled around a TV set like a rugby scrum chanting for England like football hooligans. Funny how these over-educated British tweezers and wits can suddenly sink to their lower and base instinctual behavior simply at the throw in of the checkered ball. In the very wee hours they will gather to watch their men run out onto the pitch and get resoundly defeated by Italy, Brazil or Argentina or worse France.
Brits Pub also sponsors lawn bowling touraments and British film nights.Unfortunately their British films are all Hollywood wannabees simply shot on the island in the Norhsea and not the real cinema of Britain like LIFE IS SWEET or MY BEAUTIFUL LAUNDRETTE or even THE CRYING GAME. Get a real programmer who knows great British indie cinema already! Needless-to-say, everybody running the Pub is a yank pretending to know Brit.
Still, it is well worth a visit and the food is decent. It's pub food, not gastro-pub, and no matter where you are in the world, pub food can be not much more than decent.

One of the best spots for a pint in the Twin Cities. Go to the 2nd level in which if the season is right, you can enjoy a pint and some food with great views of downtown. Take a break and talk to the person running the lawn bowling. It is a blast even if it is your 1st time. They are very accomodating and will take the time to explain the rules and rituals.

We went to Brit's with a group of friends and had a great time, particularly the lawn bowling, although it is necessary to get reservations for lawn bowling as soon as you arrive. The atmosphere is fun, with of course British drinks and food. There are many places to sit and eat at, including a bar area, and two different areas that you can sit outside, although it can get really crowded in certain areas on weekend nights (especially outside in the summer). Overall, I would highly recommend Brit's for a fun and relaxing time!

If you are looking for a great place to grab a pint downtown, this is it. The huge patio upstairs is usually packed, but if you can find a table, stay there. They even have a huge lawn bowling court (although i think you have to be on a league to play.) I have never eaten there so I can't comment on the food. The bartenders and servers are usually cool. If you are going at night, try to find a meter. Or they have valet parking.

brit's is one of the best bars in the twin cities -- right on nicollet mall, it's a conveniently located hip-happening place to grab a pint and get great, (relatively) cheap food. they have authentic fish and chips there, along with great shepherd's pie. it's pretty packed, especially pre-ochestra hall, but there's lots of seating (upstairs, outside upstairs). they have lawn-bowling outside, to boot! big, fun yuppie bar in msp. the owner, a cute, old brit, is a blast too. no parking around, but valet available in that area.
