My husband and I had been to the Grand Cafe several times before and
we enjoyed our experiences there. So, when our family was in town we
thought it would be a great place to bring them. We made reservations
on-line and when we arrived at the restaurant and looked at the menu,
some of us decided it was a little exotic for their tastes. Plus, the entree
choices were few. We decided that we were going to just have starters
and when I informed our waiter of this he proceeded to grant us with
the most unpleasant dining experience we have had yet. The
rudeness was unbearable. We will never go back!

Bakery On Grand is such a gem. The adorable, vintage, not quite shabby chic, interior makes it a romantic & intimate place for a date that won't scare him off with being too cutesy. Mismatched has never looked so pleasing.
The food is amazing, authentic French cuisine, that will impress even the most jaded foodie. The portions are great, and the prices reflect the quality. They have amazing soups, which are probably my favorite in town.
All in all, Bakery on Grand is a great place if you're looking for a little Paris here in MN, or just want to try something new & delicious without breaking the bank.

Bakery On Grand caters to foodies, locals, and burnt out cooks/servers from other Twin Cities restaurants. The atmosphere is casual--the worn wood floors, mismatched wood tables and chairs, white plaster walls, and old tin ceiling suggest cool college hangout meets local Paris bar/café.
The food is excellent-with emphasis placed on fresh ingredients and traditional French fare. My favorite dishes here so far are the canard confit and the pain perdu

Bakery on Grand is a wonderful restaurant -- supposedly has great brunches with lines out the door. I've only been there for dinner, and the food, service, bread, and dessert (duh) are WONDERFUL. The restaurant is dimmly-light, romantic, but scantly decorated (in the backroom). Great service, loved meeting the owner (who stopped by our table to say Hi), and relatively easy to find parking in that neighborhood.
